"US to deal directly with Myanmar junta" by Associated Press | September 24, 2009

UNITED NATIONS - Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said yesterday that the Obama administration has decided to engage directly with Myanmar’s junta as part of international efforts to promote democracy in the military-run state.

So who is the President anyway?

"She was in effect making new policy on her own when she declared in Thailand that US investment sanctions on Burma - which President Obama recently renewed - would be lifted....

She also had to retract her call for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to expel Burma if the junta does not change its thuggish ways"

So the decision was made then, and you and I are just being told of it now.

Clinton made the announcement at the United Nations after meeting with her counterparts from a number of countries trying to persuade the authoritarian regime to reform, allow dissent, and release political prisoners, including Nobel Peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.

Did you know, Suu Kyi is Burmese for CIA?

She said that US sanctions against members of Myanmar’s leadership would remain in place but that those measures would now be accompanied by outreach.

Here is an empty palm; wanna talk?

If I were a Burmese general, the first thing I would say is get the CIA the hell out of my country!

For months, Clinton had lamented that the sanctions were having little impact....

Then WHY PUSH FOR THEM on IRAN?! Oh, right. Israel.

The decision to engage Myanmar stemmed from a review of US policy toward the country initiated after President Obama took office.

So Clinton was the messenger and then the MSM fudged it up.

The Bush administration had shunned Myanmar. US officials said Congress would be briefed on specifics of the engagement policy today.

They are always like the last to know anything!
