Slow Saturday Special: A Cool, Cool Summer

Yeah, leave it to the Globe to only mention once the chilly fall -- already? -- has set in.

Why we can all stop worrying about 'Global Warming' for a bit

Forecast: A cooling trend on climate change

"Global warming and the sun Don't you dare forget your reusable shopping bags, but feel free to pay no attention to that burning ball of gas in the sky -- it's just the only thing that prevents the planet from being a lifeless ball of ice engulfed in total darkness. Never mind that sunspot activity doubled during the 20th century, when the bulk of global warming has taken place."

The Sun could be heading into period of extended calm

Science Fiction or Science Fact?

The IN-FRONT-OF-YOUR FACE FACTS like weather really kills the agenda-pushing fun, doesn't it, Globe?

.... the mysterious cycles of nature....

Pfft!

See:

Now they are mysterious cycles.

record snowfalls and rain....

cooler summer....

Not telling me something I don't already know since I live here.

You can fool some of the people....

The fart-misters are even trying to get tax loot from it!

"Mass. delegation seeks US disaster relief

US Senator John F. Kerry and the other members of the Massachusetts congressional delegation yesterday requested the declaration of an agricultural disaster because of the summer’s steady rains and cool weather.

And he's one of the biggest global-warming gas bags on Capitol Hill!!!

“Beginning in May 2009 and continuing into September, abnormally wet and cool weather conditions have significantly affected the growing conditions and production levels of major agricultural crops in many Massachusetts counties,’’ the lawmakers wrote to US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack.

You sure it was "abnormal?"

Of course, don't let the ICE BLOCK your way, Glob!

"But it will not be consistently open because of local weather patterns that could still freeze it up for long time periods. This year is shaping up to have the third-lowest amount of Arctic sea ice on record, just behind the worst year set in 2007 and in 2008. But just because 2009 is slightly up from the past two years, it is not an upward trend or a recovery"

Or evidence of the COOLING PHASE we are currently in.

PFFFFFFTTTTT!

"Two German merchant ships conquer famed Arctic passage; Climate change is blamed for opening of path" by Matt Moore and Seth Borenstein, Associated Press | September 12, 2009

FRANKFURT - Two German merchant ships have traversed the fabled Northeast Passage after global warming and melting ice opened a route from South Korea along Russia’s Arctic coast to Siberia....

Ice melts in summer, right?

But it will not be consistently open because of local weather patterns that could still freeze it up for long time periods. This year is shaping up to have the third-lowest amount of Arctic sea ice on record, just behind the worst year set in 2007 and in 2008. But just because 2009 is slightly up from the past two years, it is not an upward trend or a recovery, Mark Serreze, director of the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo., said. It reflects a change in local weather patterns that occurred in August, he said.

“It’s certainly part of the overall decline of sea ice that we’ve been seeing,’’ Serreze said....

The Beluga Foresight is scheduled to cast off today after its departure “was postponed due to bad weather.’’

Pffffftt!

*************************

Scientists report that the Arctic Ocean ice cap has been shrinking to unprecedented levels in recent summers, because of global warming, opening up many passages that were ice-choked in earlier times.

Turns out they STILL ARE!

Yeah, I'm SICK of the NEWSPAPERS LIES on this issue, and because of this they are NEVER TO BE BELIEVED ABOUT ANYTHING EVER AGAIN -- a point they reinforce every day.

In July, new NASA satellite measurements showed that sea ice in the Arctic was shrinking in area and thinning dramatically....

And when it thickens back up they will tell us with the same enthusiasm?

Researchers said the ability to navigate the route showed climate change.

“We are seeing an expression of climate change here,’’ Serreze said. “The Arctic is warming; we’re losing the sea ice cover. The more frequent opening of that Northeast Passage is part of the process we’re seeing.’’

Yeah, you can SMELL IT!

“The Arctic is becoming a blue ocean,’’ Serreze said....

That northern route “is going to become more and more open on a seasonal basis,’’ Serreze said.

Well, if that won't convince people, maybe this will:

"163 new species found in Southeast Asia region" by Michael Casey, Associated Press | September 26, 2009

BANGKOK - Specialists said a range of factors contributed to the upsurge in new species, including better access to regions that have seen decades of war and political unrest and more spending by governments on research to protect and identify plants and animals.

I thought we were all becoming extinct because of climate change?

Pffffffffffttt!

****************

A gecko with leopard-like spots on its body and a fanged frog that eats birds are among 163 new species discovered last year in the Mekong River region of Southeast Asia, an environmental group said yesterday.

WWF International said scientists in 2008 discovered 100 plants, 28 fish, 18 reptiles, 14 amphibians, two mammals, and one bird species in the region. That works out to be about three species a week and is in addition to the 1,000 new species cataloged there from 1997 to 2007, the group said.

Hey, I'm glad they found new species because I LOVE LIFE!

“After millennia in hiding these species are now finally in the spotlight, and there are clearly more waiting to be discovered,’’ said Stuart Chapman, director of the WWF Greater Mekong Program.

Researchers working for WWF warned that the effects of climate change, including an upsurge in droughts and floods, threaten the diverse habitat that supports these species.

No, they have SURVIVED and OUTLASTED THOSE for THOUSANDS of YEARS!!

That is on top of traditional threats such as poaching, pollution, and habitat destruction.

Yeah, I THINK YOU are ON to SOMETHING there!

“Some species will be able to adapt to climate change, many will not, potentially resulting in massive extinctions,’’ Chapman said in a statement. “Rare, endangered, and endemic species like those newly discovered are especially vulnerable because climate change will further shrink their already restricted habitats.’’

Yeah, and beating around the bushes to catalog them isn't helping, is it?

"At UN summit, Obama promises action on climate; Senate delay may hinder global pact" by Farah Stockman, Globe Staff | September 23, 2009

UNITED NATIONS - President Obama pledged yesterday to take significant action to combat the threat of global warming, warning that the world is running out of time to stop “irreversible catastrophe,’’ but despite his urgent tone Obama was unable to provide a timetable because sweeping climate change legislation is stalled in Washington....

The Obama administration has vowed to reach a sweeping new global climate agreement in December in Copenhagen, but international talks toward such an agreement have sputtered because of inaction by the United States, the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases....

Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, who has been leading the effort to pass climate change legislation, said the bill would be introduced in the next 10 days. Kerry has been attempting to persuade his colleagues of the measure’s merits, but it is opposed even by some Democrats because of the “cap-and-trade’’ system of pollution permits the bill would create. Opponents say the system, which would set permit prices through an auction, would stifle the US economy.

“Everybody is waiting for the United States of America to move on this,’’ said Kerry, who has held weekly strategy meetings since April on the issue and met individually with dozens of senators. Kerry said he is optimistic that it will pass, but acknowledged there is no guarantee.

“I think we are going to have a majority of the United States Senate that want to do this,’’ he said. “I don’t know yet whether we will get the 60 votes we need, which is critical....’’

Meanwhile, he is ASKING FOR TAX LOOT because of the RAIN and COLD this summer! PFFFFFFTTT!!!

The House passed a sweeping climate change bill in June. In the Senate, 34 senators are on record opposing the bill or leaning against it, and 21 are on the fence, according to Environment & Energy Daily....
