Wal-Mart Nightmare

Yeah, "pinch" me, quick!

"Wal-Mart profit climbs 22%" by Anne D’Innocenzio, Associated Press | February 19, 2010

NEW YORK - Wal-Mart Stores Inc., one of the recession’s biggest beneficiaries, felt the pinch during the fourth quarter as quarterly sales fell at its namesake US stores for the first time.

Profits up 22% is a pinch?

I'd hate to see what a punch is like.

Still, overseas growth and a concerted cost-cutting campaign pushed profit up 22 percent....

Sigh. I think these people are sick.

How much profit is enough? How much money can one spend?

The sales weakness at its namesake US division is happening even as the discounter says it continues to benefit from affluent shoppers trading down to its stores, but the results show that keeping these new customers may prove more difficult when the economy rebounds....

What do you mean "when" the economy rebounds?

We have been told for months that..... awwww, what's the use?

Every f***ing article is filled with f***ing lies!

Wal-Mart earned $4.63 billion in the quarter ended Jan. 31. That compares with $3.8 billion in the same quarter last year....

Aww, POOW, POOW, Wal-Mart, huh?

That is just hateful, hurtful journalism, what with the deception and distortion.
Of course, Wal-Mart is a good corporate citizen:

"Retailer restocks to woo defectors" by Bloomberg News | March 9, 2010

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is bringing back some products it had removed from shelves last year as shoppers turn to its competitors....

Wal-Mart is returning some health and beauty supplies, cereal, pet treats, soda, and laundry detergent, Leon Nicholas, a director at the consulting firm Kantar Retail who has spoken with manufacturers about the move, said. Last month, the retailer said its US stores recorded a drop in sales and had a “slight decrease’’ in customer traffic in the quarter that ended in January.

“Wal-Mart cut too deep, and now they’re going back to manufacturers,’’ said Michael Kantor, chief executive of the Promotion Optimization Institute. The organization trains retailers and producers, including Wal-Mart suppliers, to work together on marketing and merchandising.

Their profits were up 22% and they cleared over $.5 BILLION in PROFIT and they are CRYING POVERTY! Somebody wake me TF up now.

Sales at Wal-Mart’s US stores open at least one year declined 1.6 percent in the fourth quarter, more than its forecast of a sales decline of no more than 1 percent. Declining store traffic reflected disruptions caused by store remodeling, Wal-Mart’s chief financial officer, Tom Schoewe, said last month. Eduardo Castro-Wright, vice chairman and US stores chief, is leading efforts to refurbish US stores to keep consumers Wal-Mart has gained during the recession.

So because they were renovating or expanding the place we didn't go there?

Pfft!

Why don't you just say that THERE WAS NO U.S. RECOVERY because THAT is what the NUMBERS are TELLING THEM!

Sales are UP OVERSEAS but DOWN HERE?

Exports are up and recovery underway and yet you still slide back, America?

What DOESN'T SMELL RIGHT to you?

Yet

Yeah, you know I'm loving those words in my "newspaper report."

Wal-Mart is noticing that consumers are no longer going to Wal-Mart for everything they buy, said Cameron Smith, who runs the recruiting firm Cameron Smith & Associates, based on his talks with suppliers.

I wasn't going there anyway.
