Chrysler's Congressman to Be Driven Out of Congress


ROYAL OAK, Mich. --U.S. Rep. Gary Peters, a Michigan Democrat whose district includes Chrysler's headquarters, rallied support in Washington for a federal bailout to rescue the automaker.

Back home, he also helped lobby General Motors to revive an Orion Township factory planned for closing.

Yet the 51-year-old Peters finds himself struggling to win re-election in the 9th Congressional District. A poll out this week shows Peters in a tight race with his Republican challenger, Rocky Raczkowski.

Raczkowski, a 41-year-old businessman and Army Reserve officer, has been hammering away at Peters over his votes for the health care overhaul and stimulus package....
