More things missing:

"GUATEMALA MASSACRE -- Forensic workers yesterday arrived at a mobile morgue with one of 28 bodies found decapitated Sunday on a farm in San Andres, on the Mexican border. Police say the killings could be linked to drug gangs operating in the area. Guatemala has one of the highest homicide rates in Latin America, with most crimes attributed to drug gangs. However, even more slayings occur in Mexico, where more than 37,000 people have died since 2006 (Boston Globe, May 17 2011)."

And you would not have known that had you not purchased a printed paper and seen the photograph.

"President a winner in referendum vote

QUITO — Ecuadoran voters roundly approved 10 ballot questions proposed by leftist President Rafael Correa that critics say could curb press freedom and the judiciary’s independence, an exit poll found. The referendum was an important gauge of popularity for Correa. Two of the questions would bar news media owners from other commercial interests and create a government media oversight authority."

"22 killed in Argentina plane crash" May 20, 2011|Associated Press

BUENOS AIRES — A turboprop plane carrying 22 people crashed and exploded in Argentina’s southern Patagonia region, killing all on board. At the crash scene yesterday, firefighters examined small pieces of burned wreckage and bodies scattered over a wide swath of the desert....

And yet, in Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001.... yeah, I know, I beat certain themes trying to bring them to life.  Every time I read or see something about a plane crash that is the first thing that enters my mind.

Sol vice president Juan Nyffenegger said yesterday in Buenos Aires that the twin-engine Saab 340 had taken off normally and had no record of technical problems. The plane was built in the late 1980s, and the pilots were quite experienced, he added.

He said investigators will determine what went wrong after recovering the cockpit recorders.

And how much you want to bet they blame pilot error?

Speaking of recovered recorders::

"Leaks allege pilot error in ’09 crash" May 25, 2011|By Nicola Clark, New York Times

The main pilots’ union at Air France and relatives of the 228 people who died in the mid-Atlantic crash of Air France Flight 447 two years ago strongly condemned reports yesterday suggesting that crucial errors by the jet’s crew might have led to the disaster.

So the French phonied up some tapes, 'eh?

I guess there WILL NOT BE ANY LAW$UITS against government or the airline, 'eh?

In recent days, a series of reports have surfaced in the European and US media purporting to describe details that accident investigators have gleaned from the data contained in the plane’s so-called black box recorders, which were successfully downloaded last week.

Missing since 9/11.  One wonders where the FBI stashed them, and one would never believe anything they might ever produce from them.

Some of those reports, citing anonymous sources, have suggested the data indicate the crew reacted to a cascade of system failures on the Airbus A330-200 jet exactly as they had been trained to do, while others have said there was evidence the pilots failed to follow standard procedures....

Yeah, yeah, we know why the trial balloon of pilot error i$ being flown.

For the past week, technical investigators at the nation’s Bureau of Investigations and Analyses have been poring over more than 1,300 pieces of flight data and two hours of cockpit voice recordings. The bureau is expected to publish a brief chronology of the events captured on the recorders Friday.

As if we are supposed to believe some French forgeries two years after several searches by respected agencies failed to find a thing and all hope was lost.

Alas, let that not stop the agenda-pushing cover-up:

"Flight data detail final moments of doomed Air France jet" by Nicola Clark, New York Times / May 28, 2011

PARIS — The commander of an Air France jet that crashed two years ago was in the cockpit, though not at the controls, as the crew struggled to recover from a high-altitude stall that occurred as the plane encountered moderate turbulence over the mid- Atlantic, according to the initial chronology of the flight’s final moments published yesterday by French air accident investigators.

This BLAME the DEAD GUY is REALLY GETTING OLD!!!

The report confirmed investigators’ initial hypothesis that a loss of consistent speed readingsprobably due to icing of airspeed sensors on the wings and fuselage — triggered the chain of events that led to the crash of Flight 447 on its way from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.

"Probably?" Still going with the FAILED $EN$OR FRAUD?

See: THE MYSTERY OF THE AIR FRANCE 447 PASSENGER LIST

Nothing is ever what the newspaper makes it seem, sigh.

But they said it was too early to say whether the crash was the result of errors made by the pilots or a technical malfunction as the plane plummeted from 38,000 feet.

The information was contained on the plane’s so-called black boxes, which were retrieved earlier this month from the ocean floor....

Uh-huh.

"Brazil steps up fight against deforestation" May 20, 2011|Associated Press

BRASILIA, Brazil — Some environmental specialists warned that simple economics were driving the deforestation rates and that as the global economy recovers from financial crisis, the rates would rise again as demand for soy and cattle raised in the Amazon increases. Farmers and ranchers would probably clear more land to produce those products....

Where is this recovery they keep talking about?

Oh, so they ALREADY KNOW what the problem is and HAVE TO FORM a COMMITTEE to INVESTIGATE?

Maybe I'm not missing that much at all.
