Warren and Brown's War of Words

What started it all:

"Warren stands firm in debate; Senate hopefuls do no sparring" October 05, 2011|By Noah Bierman and Frank Phillips, Globe Staff

On war, taxes, regulation, and stimulus spending, the Democrats are almost universally to the left of President Obama, urging a quick military withdrawal, higher taxes on the rich, a broader crackdown on Wall Street, and more government spending to jump-start the economy....

One by one, all of the candidates expressed support for popular Democratic themes: the protesters who are part of the Occupy Boston movement downtown, medical marijuana use, money for Planned Parenthood, abortion rights, and the rights of the children of illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition at public universities....

"‘Wall Street’s favorite’ not quite true of Brown" October 06, 2011|By Noah Bierman, Globe Staff

Elizabeth Warren wowed the crowd in her first debate Tuesday night when she referred to a Forbes magazine article that she said had called Scott Brown “Wall Street’s favorite senator.’’

He's close:

Who Bought Brown's Election?

The U.S. Senate's Chief Brownnoser to Israel

Brown's Nose Buried Deep

It's going to be an uphill battle, Liz.  Has the AIPAC man visited you yet?

But the statement from the Democratic challenger is a stretch, one that oversimplifies the June 2010 article. In fact, Forbes listed Brown as number 10 on a list of “Wall Street’s favorite congressmen,’’ a ranking based on contributions from the financial industry.

Six Democrats ranked higher on the list than the Massachusetts Republican, including Senate majority leader Harry Reid....

That's the PROBLEM with AmeriKan politics right now.

BOTH PARTIES are OWNED by WALL STREET!

It's a WALL STREET GOVERNMENT!

Brown, unapologetic, says he was joking in Warren remark

"Brown is ‘clueless’ on women, Pelosi says; October 10, 2011|By Associated Press

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said yesterday that Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown’s wisecrack about the appearance of Democratic rival Elizabeth Warren shows he is clueless about women.

During a Democratic primary debate Tuesday, Warren was asked about Brown’s decision to pose nude in a magazine during law school. Asked how she paid for college, Warren said she kept her clothes on.

“Thank God,’’ Brown laughed during a radio interview about the comment afterward. He later said he was joking.

Nonetheless, Pelosi said Brown should take that comment back. “I thought it spoke volumes about how clueless Senator Brown is,’’ the California Democrat said on ABC’s “This Week.’’ “It really spoke volumes about, really, disrespect for women he may not even realize.’’

Democrats hope to oust Brown from the Senate seat once held by Ted Kennedy.

On Friday, the freshman senator declined to apologize for his comment, saying he was only reacting to Warren’s earlier quip about his modeling. He would not respond directly to an online petition, originally launched by the Massachusetts Democratic Party, urging him to apologize to women for the “sexist remark.’’

Brown has previously defended his decision to pose for a magazine, saying modeling was his best opportunity to pay for school. “Let them throw stones. I did what I had to do,’’ Brown added. “But not for having that opportunity I never would have been able to pay for school.’’

Who cares about that distracting garbage?

"Warren, Brown fill their coffers" October 11, 2011|By Noah Bierman, Globe Staff

Elizabeth Warren, capitalizing on Democratic establishment support and help from progressive political action committees, has raised $3.15 million toward her US Senate bid, doubling what Republican Senator Scott Brown raised over the same reporting period, their campaigns said today.

I'm already souring on her somewhat.

The Democrat’s strong fund-raising start sets the stage for an especially expensive US Senate race in 2012, given the importance of the seat to both parties....

This while Americans are camping in cities because they are suffering.

F*** corporate-driven politic$!

The fund-raising reports serve as a measure of political strength for the public, party activists, and for additional potential donors who may be waiting to gauge a candidate’s viability. The money will also be important as the election draws nearer and candidates begin competing with television and radio ads....
