Body Found at Brockton School

"Man dead outside Brockton schools" by Todd Feathers |  Globe Correspondent, March 11, 2013

Brockton police are investigating the death of a man who was found Monday in the parking lot of a building that houses two alternative schools, prosecutors and school officials said.

Police do not believe the death was suspicious and are working to identify the man, a statement from Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said.

The man’s body was discovered around 9 a.m. by cleaning crews outside the Warren Avenue building, said Jocelyn Meek, spokeswoman for the Brockton schools.

After they were notified of the body’s discovery, school officials asked families of students who attend Champion High School and B.B. Russell Alternative School to bring them to Brockton High School.

“We didn’t want the students to be impacted, and we wanted the public safety officers to have a clear space to work,” Meek said.

Students attended morning classes at Brockton High, but later returned to the alternative school building.
