Cannibalism in Rhode Island

"Event urges students to eat healthily

More than 75,000 Rhode Island students took part in a statewide reading event aimed at promoting healthy eating and fighting childhood obesity. Students at more than 200 schools, libraries, youth programs, and health centers participated in Monday’s event, which recognizes March as National Nutrition Month. Governor Lincoln Chafee was scheduled to be among a variety of guest narrators reading to the students ‘‘Is Your Hair Made of Donuts?’’ by Rhode Island author Joy Feldman. Feldman said she wants to call attention to childhood obesity and empower young people to make healthier food choices."

"R.I. man guilty of killing, dismembering girlfriend

A Johnston man has been found guilty of killing his girlfriend, then dismembering her and trying to burn her remains in his fireplace. Donald Greenslit was found guilty Monday in Providence Superior Court of first-degree murder and other charges. The jury began deliberating Friday in the killing of Stacie Dorego, 39, in January 2012. She was Greenslit’s girlfriend and the mother of his two children. Her killing was discovered after someone reported to authorities that smoke was coming from Greenslit’s home. Authorities say they found Dorego’s burned remains in a fireplace and the children, ages 3 and 5, sitting in a bedroom and coughing from the smoke."

Better off just eating bugs.
