A 12-year-old boy led Waltham police to a suspect when he locked himself in a bedroom and called 911 after hearing someone breaking into his house, officials said.
The boy was alone at a home on the western edge of the city. He was watching TV Friday afternoon, when he heard a smash, said Lieutenant Joseph Brooks. The boy thought someone was trying to get in through the back window, so he locked himself in a bedroom and called 911, Brooks said.
Waltham Mayor Jeannette A. McCarthy invited the boy to City Hall and awarded him a proclamation commending him for his actions....
