"Brookline police search for polite bank robber" by Catalina Gaitan | Globe Correspondent June 27, 2014
Brookline police are searching for a polite robber who purportedly apologized and thanked a teller after robbing a bank for the second time at gunpoint, authorities said.
The suspect was described as a white man with dark brown hair and a beard but no mustache. Brookline police tweeted earlier this week that he was 6 feet tall and about 30 years old.
The suspect is responsible for robbing the Eastern Bank on Harvard Street twice in the past two months, according to Lieutenant Philip Harrington.
Police responded to reports of a robbery at about 3 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect allegedly showed the bank teller a note stating that he had a gun and demanding cash, before pulling out a black handgun and rapping it against the counter, according to the Mass Most Wanted website. Mass Most Wanted is sponsored by the Mass Bankers Association and maintained by the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council to identify unknown criminal suspects, its website says.
The suspect then pointed the handgun in the teller’s direction and demanded the money. After receiving the cash, he allegedly apologized and thanked the teller before fleeing on foot into the Coolidge Corner area, officials said.
Police did not say how much money was taken. Police believe the same man robbed the bank May 9, Harrington said.
