We are a nation at arms!

"For two veterans, a freedom restored for Independence Day" by David Gonzalez New York Times  July 02, 2017

NEW YORK — Both Army veterans, who lost part or all of an arm while in the service in Vietnam, celebrated the start of the Independence Day weekend by becoming the first two recipients, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs, of a state-of-the-art robotic arm that uses computers, sensors, and motors to give back to them the essential functions they had lost in their youth.

The arm — known as Life Under Kinetic Evolution or LUKE — is the result of an eight-year research project by the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and private companies.

“[The LUKE arm] is a life-changer,” David J. Shulkin, the secretary of veterans affairs, said in a telephone interview Friday, shortly before a ceremony at the Manhattan VA hospital where the two veterans received their new arms.

When DARPA, along with the Department of Veterans Affairs, funded studies to develop the latest prosthesis. They in turn were able to enlist private companies.

The equipment will also become available to civilians...."

Veteran whose valor has long been buried will finally get his due

He was an African-American who served during the Spanish-American War, another ginned-up by the ma$$ media conflict based on dubious events. It's the same with every war

Well, almost:

"On July 3, 1775, General George Washington took command of the Continental Army in Cambridge."

Glad we won that one and the War of 1812.

"In 1863, the three-day Civil War Battle of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania ended in a major victory for the North as Confederate troops failed to breach Union positions during an assault known as Pickett’s Charge."

In what was a one-two punch, Vicksburg would also fall soon after.

"In 1913, during a 50th anniversary reunion at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Civil War veterans re-enacted Pickett’s Charge, which ended with embraces and handshakes between the former enemies."

Why can't governments cut the chase now?!!!?

Give them all a 21-gun salute today.

"10 killed in air crashes in Wisconsin, Georgia" Associated Press  July 02, 2017

PHILLIPS, Wis. — Ten people were killed in weekend air crashes in Wisconsin and Georgia, authorities said.

Six people aboard a Cessna died Saturday when the plane crashed near Phillips in northern Wisconsin, the Price County sheriff’s office said.

WSAW-TV said the crash victims were all adults.

The sheriff’s office said the plane had departed from Chicago and was heading to Canada on a fishing trip.

National Transportation Safety Board investigators said there was a discussion between the pilot and air traffic controllers about a ‘‘local weather phenomenon.’’ Soon after, the aircraft dropped off radar.

At least four people died when a Piper PA-23 crashed in Georgia Saturday afternoon, in Chatsworth, about 17 miles south of the Tennessee state line, federal officials said. The Federal Aviation Administration was investigating reports that the aircraft might have broken up in flight.

The NTSB is also investigating the Georgia crash.

In Southern California, a couple whose plane crashed and burst into flames on a freeway were recovering from their injuries.....

Today's Trump-de-dump:

"Trump tweets a video of him wrestling ‘CNN’ to the ground" by Michael M. Grynbaum New York Times  July 02, 2017

NEW YORK — The wrestling video stirred criticism, disbelief, and dumbfoundedness. Some journalists denounced its portrayal of violence as dangerous, saying it could incite attacks or threats against media employees.

There is a certain art to it.

“I think it is unseemly that the president would attack journalists for doing their jobs, and encourage such anger at the media,” said Dean Baquet, executive editor of The New York Times.

Now they are really going to go after him

Btw, it's not him. It's the endless, agenda-pushing, war-promoting lies and distortions coming from the pre$$ that has produced the anger.

The administration did not respond to a request for comment. President Trump’s homeland security adviser, Thomas Bossert, defended the video when he viewed it for the first time during a broadcast interview with Martha Raddatz of ABC News. “No one would perceive that as a threat,” Bossert said. “I hope they don’t.”

Is that the next psyop coming down the pike, a mass shooting at a newsroom?

Please. Don't waste your time and energy on such discredited and unheard people.

Rallies for and against Trump were held in several cities Sunday.

Demonstrators hoisting signs and chanting anti-Trump slogans marched through downtown Los Angeles to urge Congress to impeach the president. Organizers said they believe the president has violated the Constitution and obstructed justice. A smaller group of Trump backers rallied outside the police headquarters.

Supporters and opponents clashed in Austin, Texas, at a march by a group calling for impeachment.

A version of Trump’s video appeared last week on a Trump-dedicated page on the message board site Reddit, a popular meeting ground for Trump supporters.

The CNN logo is superimposed on what appears to be the head of Vince McMahon, a wrestling magnate and a friend of Trump, who in his prepresidential years often appeared as a guest on wrestling shows.

Trump’s fans on Reddit were exuberant about what they viewed as validation from the country’s most powerful man. The president’s allies say his attacks on the media are justified, arguing that the president is merely defending himself from coverage that his supporters view as biased. Trump’s war of words with CNN is especially popular with his voter base.

Media advocates, however, have raised alarms about a recent spate of arrests and assaults on working journalists, including a high-profile episode in which a Montana congressional candidate, Greg Gianforte, assaulted a reporter for The Guardian, breaking his glasses. Gianforte, who won a House seat, later apologized to the reporter.

Was just a little dust-up is all.

Bruce Brown, the executive director of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, condemned the wrestling video as a ‘‘threat of physical violence against journalists.’’

“Targeting individual journalists or media outlets, on-or off-line, creates a chilling effect and fosters an environment where further harassment, or even physical attack, is deemed acceptable,” said Courtney Radsch, the advocacy director for the Committee to Protect Journalists.

With all due respect, this is starting to look as staged as the wrestling matches!!

Trump posted the wrestling tweet just as prominent Republicans began appearing on the major Sunday news programs.

On CNN, Senator Ben Sasse, Republican of Nebraska, accused the president of “weaponizing distrust” toward the media.

But Tom Price, the health and human services secretary, bristled when asked on NBC’s “Meet the Press” about Trump’s antimedia remarks. “This is really remarkable,” Price said. “Your program — a program with the incredible history of ‘Meet the Press’ — and that’s what you want to talk about?”

And you wonder why I no longer watch?

CNN said “We will keep doing our jobs. He should start doing his.’’

I'm going to do mine:

"The idea of repealing before replacing would invite accusations that Republicans were simply tossing people off coverage and roil insurance markets by raising the question of whether, when and how Congress might replace Obama’s law once it was gone....."

Globe emphasizes the point with their lead story of the day, and “deportation is like the death sentence to them.”

Alphabet says EU antitrust fine to cut profit by $2.74 billion

Will Trump discuss, or maybe they move all that $$$ back here?

"Chancellor Angela Merkel has urged Germany’s partners in the Group of 20 to avoid deeper divisions in economic policy and to seek inclusive “win-win” solutions that benefit all. In her weekly podcast, the German leader said the G-20 summit in Hamburg this week offers a good platform for states to air their “different interests” and to forge common policies that benefit the global economy. The pursuit of one-sided economic interests risks creating “irreconcilable conflicts” between states, she said. But Merkel’s hopes that the two-day meeting can achieve a consensus on policies as diverse as trade rules and climate may be fading. The magazine Der Spiegel said on June 30 that President Trump may use the forum to raise grievances about things like European bans on US beef imports and Germany’s export surplus with the United States."

First the stab at China, and now the pre$$ is pushing the beef:

"You might want to invite the neighbors over for burgers: Thanks to a boom in supply, retail beef prices are low enough to compete with pork and poultry. US beef production is rising for a second straight year. Wholesale prices have fluctuated this year, but ground beef at the grocery store remains near the cheapest since 2014. And hedge funds are signaling they expect prices to remain low. They’ve cut their wagers on a rally for cattle futures to the smallest in 11 weeks. Bigger supplies are “a big part of beef prices,” said David Anderson, a livestock economist at Texas A&M University. “And here we are at the holiday, so go grill something.” On the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures for August delivery fell 4.4 percent in June to $1.163 a pound — the third loss in four months for the most-active contract. US beef production is expected to climb 4 percent this year to 26.3 billion pounds, the highest since 2010, the Department of Agriculture estimates. Feed has stayed cheap for livestock producers, and retail beef prices have stayed cheap even as wholesale costs have climbed, signaling that consumers are apt to enjoy lower bills for the next year and a half, said Chris Hurt, a professor of agricultural economics at Purdue University. Wholesale beef is up 11 percent this year to $2.25 a pound. But retail ground beef was unchanged since the end of last year at $3.56 as of May, down 4.3 percent from 12 months earlier."

So much for the drought and fires that were supposed to cripple cattle production.

Other end bulls**:

"Anti-Semitic and white supremacist graffiti was scrawled on a Marblehead causeway along with President Trump’s campaign slogan on Friday, according to police. A kayaker noticed the graffiti on Friday evening and reported it to police. It was facing the harbor on Ocean Avenue. The graffiti included a Star of David inside a circle with a line drawn through it, the words “KKK is here,” the campaign slogan “Make America Great Again,” the word “Trump,” and a reference to the Pizzagate conspiracy theory. Marblehead police said on Sunday that the graffiti had been removed. Police said more hateful graffiti was found in Seaside Park, but were unsure whether it was related to the causeway graffiti. The New England Anti-Defamation League is hosting an event called “Marblehead Unites Against Hate” on Monday in response to the graffiti. State Representative Lori Ehrlich — whose district includes Marblehead, Swampscott, and parts of Lynn — is helping to promote the event....."

More false flag, self-inflicted hate sh**!

Recent polls indicate only two countries view Trump favorably: Israel and Russia (must have been Russians, right?).

Beyond that, the attempt to discredit the pedophilia is remarkable along with the graffiti being REMOVED! It's not a crime scene?

How despicable!

"‘Despicable Me 3’ tops the box office for the holiday weekend" by the Associated Press   July 02, 2017

LOS ANGELES — The Minions are still a box office force and original stories are scoring big, but not the R-rated comedy — even with Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler behind it.

Studio estimates on Sunday say that Universal Pictures and Illumination’s ‘‘Despicable Me 3’’ earned $75.4 million over the weekend, while the former “Saturday Night Live” stars’ gambling comedy ‘‘The House’’ burned down.

Edgar Wright’s original heist movie ‘‘Baby Driver’’ coasted to $30 million in its first five days in theaters, with $21 million from the three-day weekend to take second place.

Rounding out the top five were holdovers ‘‘Transformers: The Last Knight’’ in third with $17 million, followed by ‘‘Wonder Woman’’ with $15.6 million, and ‘‘Cars 3’’ with $9.5 million.

I'm surprised Wonder Woman hasn't sagged yet.

Not so successful was suburban gambling comedy ‘‘The House’’ which landed in sixth place with only $9 million — one of the lowest of Ferrell’s career and the latest in a string of R-rated comedies to tank at the box office following ‘‘Rough Night’’ and ‘‘Baywatch.’’
