Globe Masks Child Abuse

In the past this would have been tagged a Slow Saturday Special; however, there is no longer anything special about the Globe on any day.

In this case, it was the horror I found straddling the fold this past Saturday:

"The downside of ditching masks: the return of colds, flu" by Camille Caldera Globe Correspondent, June 14, 2021

[The name looks new to me. I wonder who they pushed out]

Since the state’s mask mandate was lifted at the end of May, face coverings have started to come off — and stay off, but according to infectious diseases doctors, the return of facial freedom might come with some downsides, like a resurgence in cases of the common cold and the flu.

Throughout the pandemic, precautions taken to stop the spread of COVID-19 all but eliminated other common viruses.

So far this flu season, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported just one influenza-associated pediatric death nationwide, compared with 199 the previous season, and a study published in September in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report revealed a staggering 98 percent decrease in flu activity in the first months of the pandemic.

[There really is no limit to their audacity in the way they spin the renaming of seasonal cold and flu into the scary CVD!

I know the correspondent is a newby, but this is insulting beyond the limit. Lies turned upside down are still lies.

Honestly, there is only one term to describe it, sigh]

“Most of us in infectious disease really attributed that to masks — not just masks, but the combination of masks, people working largely from home, social distancing, all of those measures that have been in place for the last year,” said Dr. Joshua Barocas, an infectious diseases physician at Boston Medical Center, but as vaccination rates increase and such precautions are slowly scrapped, other viruses will start to resurge, starting with colds and other viruses later this summer, and the flu come fall and winter.

On Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a health advisory about increased cases of respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, across parts of the southern United States — something they hadn’t seen since April 2020, when cases “decreased rapidly.” RSV is a cold-like respiratory illness that produces symptoms similar to COVID, and can cause severe illness in older adults and young children.

[Ironically, the disease from wearing an unhealthy and unnecessary mask]

Since late March — about the time COVID vaccines began to be widely available — cases of RSV have been on the rise in the South. Though the trend hasn’t yet reached the North, where the public was slower to unmask en masse because of lingering restrictions, experts predict that it will.

“I imagine it’s going to start expanding to all of the other states as well, as the mask mandates are lifted and as people start socializing more and spending more time together,” said Dr. Helen Chu, an infectious disease specialist at the University of Washington.

Chu predicted that the return of viruses like RSV and influenza could be somewhat mitigated by the continuation of public health measures in schools this fall.

Masks are among the most effective of such measures, she said, because much of virus transmission is droplet based, expelled from one person’s mouth or nose and into another’s.

“Having that mask on prevents that type of droplet-based transmission pretty well,” Chu said.

[Oh, she is what is now viewed as a criminal for pushing this fraud, especially when the distance for the little superspreaders who rarely contract or transmit it.

The last people on this planet that should be wearing masks are children under the age of 20 who are still developing. It is depriving them of vital oxygen that will stunt their physical growth and damage their brain, with the side benefit of making them sick with respiratory di$ea$es that can then be diagnosed as.... (drum roll).... CVD.

What an evil, criminal, mass-murdering racket!]

For that reason, Barocas said he will likely continue to wear a face mask in situations that present an elevated risk of cold or flu transmission — like a large holiday gathering or night out at a crowded bar.

“I want to lower my risk of respiratory infection. I don’t really want to miss work,” Barocas said, “and to me, wearing a mask is such low-hanging fruit that I’ll probably do it in a lot of social situations.”

He also noted the protection face masks afford from pollutants in the air and common allergens like pollen.

[How in the world has humanity not only made it to this point, but flourished to the point of needing the be culled and depopulated by these $ick mon$ters, huh?]

Dr. Nahid Bhadelia, the founding director of the Boston University Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases Policy and Research, said she recommends her patients keep their masks on hand.

Chu agreed with that advice, and added that she and other infectious disease doctors are concerned about how children will handle the upcoming flu season.

“All of us in infectious diseases are just holding our breath right now to see what happens when the flu comes back, because it is heading into an environment where children have not seen it,” she said. “For many of them, this will be their first exposure, and I’m just worried about how sick they might get once they get it.”

Barocas anticipates sending his children to school with masks this fall, regardless of whether or not their schools require them.

“Quite honestly, it’s been really nice not having my kids have the colds and sore throats that keep them home from school, and it’s highly likely that my wife and I will encourage our kids to bring their masks to school and wear them for part of the day,” he said. “At the very least, it’s going to reduce their risk a little bit.”

[MASK OFF!]

My advice is avoid the classroom at all costs (btw, that link came with this ad)

The next question was whether to go up above the fold, or down below.

In either case, their is unmitigated evil to be found.

That's the first time I have seen him in a Bo$ton Globe pew.

I turn to the right and see this:

The New York Times took the Dias to absolve Biden who, sniff-sniff, has the stench of pettofeelya, iynwim.

Then I looked down:

A drink always makes me feel a bit Cheeky:

"Starting Saturday, businesses including stores, bars, restaurants, casinos, and gyms are able to operate at full capacity, and high-contact establishments like nightclubs can open for the first time since the start of the pandemic. Vaccinated people can drop their masks indoors, except in riskier settings such as hospitals and public transportation. The lifting of the rules marks a major step in the state’s recovery from COVID-19. Some establishments quite literally rang in the new era. A DJ at Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co. on Lansdowne Street was set to count down the seconds until midnight. As Friday night became Saturday morning, the brewpub hoped to reach its full capacity of 575 people, employees planned to knock down plexiglass barriers, and customers were to be allowed to party maskless until 2 a.m., but while some industries celebrate a dramatic return to something like normal, people in other sectors warn that some effects of the crisis will take longer to unwind. “Labor Day is still kind of that sweet spot for the companies we’re talking to,” said Liz Berthelette, research director at real estate firm Newmark. State Senator Julian Cyr, a Truro Democrat, said he’s already hearing that Cape Cod businesses including some dance clubs, will require patrons to provide proof of vaccination upon entry to protect other patrons and workers at the venues. Nonetheless, Encore officials believe they can handle what they expect to be a surge in customers — especially those who play table games — over the busy weekend, which they kicked off with a champagne toast on the casino floor as the restrictions expired at midnight. “The requirements that go with being fully compliant with the COVID restrictions are a lot,” said Jenny Holaday, Encore’s executive vice president of operations. “Having those guard rails be removed is really exciting both for our employees and for our guests, so everybody can just relax and enjoy themselves and have a nice time.” Paul Sacco, CEO of the Massachusetts Lodging Association, said the summer is already looking “far better than last year.” “It really is the weekend of the change,” Sacco said. “After a year of agony.” Those venturing out this weekend will likely notice a difference — even amid the expected cool and damp weather....."

They have been telling us it is hotter than ever, but here’s what to know as the street is full of hustle and bustle now that the state has eased COVID-19 restrictions.

What do you do if the kid doesn't, slap him and blame it on being up too late?

I certainly know the feeling of starting the whole schlep over, but I follow the early-to-bed, early-to-rise axiom so I can share life with the nature that offers me a fabulous bounty each and every day, thank God, and the Globe $cribes can all take the express elevator down where I will be there to greet them -- although probably not for the want! The opening of the pearly Gates will be the final disappointment.

"Voting bill showdown looms as GOP rejects Manchin plan" by Brian Slodysko and Christina A. Cassidy Associated Press, June 18, 2021

WASHINGTON — The Senate is set for a key vote Tuesday on a sweeping rewrite of voting and election law, setting up a dramatic test of Democratic unity on a top priority that Republicans are vowing to block.

Democrats appeared to be coalescing Thursday around changes to the bill that could win the support of moderate West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, the lone Democratic holdout on the legislation, yet they still faced lockstep Republican opposition that will likely leave Democrats back where they started: lacking the votes to overcome a Republican filibuster.

The bill, known as the For the People Act, has been touted as Democrats’ answer to a state-level GOP push to enact voting restrictions following the 2020 election. It passed the House in March, but has bogged down in the Senate as Democrats have debated among themselves — with Manchin ultimately declaring he couldn’t vote for it because it lacked bipartisan support, yet Manchin’s position has evolved and compromise appeared to be nearing after he proposed a series of changes this week to narrow its scope. His proposal received a boost Thursday when Stacey Abrams, a former Georgia gubernatorial candidate who is a leading Democratic voice on voting rights, said she “absolutely” supported it.

[She did a flip-flop but it is racist and sexist to call it out]

Still, in a narrowly divided Senate where Democrats must count on Vice President Harris to cast tie-breaking votes, any compromise will likely be for naught unless changes are made to Senate filibuster rules, which Manchin and others oppose. For now, it takes 60 votes to overcome a filibuster and advance legislation.

Over a dozen Senate Republicans took turns at the microphone during a Thursday news conference to denounce the bill, which they view as a federal overreach into state and local elections.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky, predicted all Republicans would remain in lockstep opposition regardless of what changes are made. As written, the Democrats’ bill would bring about the largest overhaul of US voting in a generation, touching nearly every aspect of the electoral process. It would blunt laws erected in the name of election security, like voter ID requirements, while curtailing the influence of big money in politics. It would create a nonpartisan process for redrawing congressional districts, expand mail voting and early voting, restore the rights of felons to cast a ballot, and scores of other provisions.

[The bill to ensconce never-ending national fraud is laughable on it$ face]

Manchin’s counter-offer, which is intended to entice GOP support, would leave significant portions of the sprawling bill intact, while curtailing, rewriting, or eliminating other key parts. What will ultimately come to the floor for a vote Tuesday remains unclear. Also not certain: whether Manchin will vote for it.

A national voter ID requirement favored by Manchin has emerged as one sticking point with some Democrats.

Manchin’s proposal is far softer than the strict photo ID requirements adopted by some states. It would require all states to check ID, but various documents including a utility bill could be used instead of a photo ID, a requirement already adopted by 15 states including Manchin’s West Virginia.

“That is what we’re negotiating,” said Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, who is playing a lead role in guiding the legislation.

“We might squabble about one or two things,” said Senator Raphael Warnock, of Georgia, “but I am not about to sacrifice the good in the pursuit of the perfect.”

[Those are Pelosi's words coming out of his seat-stealing mouth]

Polls have shown notable bipartisan support for voter ID requirements -- meaning the American public does indeed care about fair elections and what was once the sacred right to vote -- and I have, unfortunately, lost a lot of interest in politics after both parties have thrown in with the CVD fraud.

There are some good leaders out there who are profiles in courage, but they are few and far between.

{@@##$$%%^^&&}

This here is the antithesis of it:

"President Biden urged unvaccinated Americans to get vaccinated, warning that a highly transmissible variant of the coronavirus could cause more deaths. “Even while we are making incredible progress, it remains a serious and deadly threat,” Biden said Friday during a White House event to celebrate 300 million doses of vaccine administered during the first 150 days of his administration. “The data is clear: If you are unvaccinated, you’re at risk of getting seriously ill, or dying, or spreading it.” Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, expects the Delta variant first detected in India to be the most prevalent strain in the United States in the coming summer months. COVID-19 cases have plunged in the country in step with vaccinations, prompting many people to resume pre-pandemic activities like indoor dining, sporting events, concerts, and travel in recent weeks, but a large swath of Americans — particularly in the politically conservative South — have declined shots despite warnings from health authorities that the virus remains a threat. “The Delta variant can cause more people to die in areas where people have not been vaccinated,” Biden said Friday. “Where people have gotten the two shots, the Delta variant is highly unlikely to result in anything,” he said, adding that “the existing vaccines are very effective.”

That came from Bloomberg and WaShington Compo$t, who recommended a trip up to Canada:

"Canada said Friday that it would extend restrictions on nonessential travel at the US-Canada land border until July 21, a move poised to further stoke frustration among the lawmakers, business groups, and residents on both sides of the border who have been pressing Ottawa to begin lifting them. The restrictions, which have been in place since March 2020, have had limited impacts on trade and commerce, but they’ve split apart families, disrupted life in tightly knit border communities, and badly hurt the tourism industry in Canada, which is reliant on American visitors during the summer season. Canadian officials have suggested that the reopening of the border will happen in phases. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that he wants 75 percent of Canadians to have a first dose of a coronavirus vaccine and at least 20 percent of them to be fully vaccinated before easing the measures. As of June 17, nearly 66 percent of Canadians had received at least one dose, while roughly 16 percent have been fully vaccinated. Canada had been extending the interval between doses to get some protection to more people more quickly amid what were initially limited supplies. “We’re not out of this pandemic yet,” Trudeau said. As vaccination rates in Canada have risen, calls have mounted for the country to begin easing some of the measures, and several US lawmakers from across the political spectrum have pushed President Biden to lift the measures unilaterally."

That criminal tyrant has turned Canada into a hellhole, and my sympathies go out to those up north although I know we are all in the same boat and.....

".... they'll be shutting it all down again in the fall...for the Kill...that's when they're going to blame the mass deaths of the vaccinated on "variants" and the "unvaccinated" and then they're going to round us all up to drag us off to gulags...and here's the kicker....." -- Greencrow

I highly suggest you click on that link and read the rest of the post as well as run the blog roll as I do everyday (not because I'm on it), and I can not help but agree with her because it has been planned for a long time and nothing other than divine intervention will cause them to deviate save a mass awakening amongst the world's populace.

The New York Times says book a trip to Europe instead -- as long as you have had your $hot, of cour$e:

"When Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose coronavirus vaccine was authorized for emergency use in the United States in late February, it was seen as a breakthrough for reaching vulnerable and isolated Americans, a crucial alternative to vaccines that require two shots weeks apart and fussier storage. It was soon popular on college campuses, in door-to-door campaigns, and with harder-to-reach communities that often struggle with access to health care, but with only 11.8 million doses administered in the United States so far — less than 4 percent of the total — the “one and done” vaccine has fallen flat. States have warned that they may not find recipients for millions of doses that will soon expire, partly because the vaccine’s appeal dropped after it was linked to a rare but serious blood-clotting disorder and injections were paused for 10 days in April. The vaccine took another hit last week, when regulators told Johnson & Johnson that it should throw out tens of millions of additional doses produced at a plant in Baltimore because they might be contaminated. Although millions of Americans have yet to be inoculated, the vaccine’s role in the United States is fading fast. Experts lament a missed opportunity to address health disparities with a shot that should have been ideal for reaching vulnerable populations."

That's about as close as they get to mention the tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of deaths and adverse reactions piling up across the planet.

All $afe and highly effective, blah, blah.

Forgot all about the children:

"Children and other relatives of Biden aides get administration jobs" by Sean Sullivan and Michael Scherer Washington Post, June 18, 2021

WASHINGTON — Barely a week into office, President Biden made a promise that signaled a sharp break from his predecessor: No member of his family would be involved in government, but that vow did not extend to his senior staff and their relatives. In the first few months of Biden’s presidency, at least five children of his top aides have secured coveted jobs in the new administration. They include two sons and a daughter of the White House counselor, the daughter of a deputy White House chief of staff, and the daughter of the director of presidential personnel.

The pattern continued this week. “While it may not be as bad as appointing your son or daughter to a top government post as Trump did with Jared and Ivanka, it is still bad,” said Walter Shaub, who served as director of the Office of Government Ethics from 2013-17. “‘Not as bad as Trump’ cannot be the new standard.”

Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner worked in the White House as unpaid senior advisers, moves that outraged ethics experts, even as a Justice Department opinion found the president has special hiring authorities. Some relatives of top Trump officials and aides also were hired into the administration.

Beyond children, other relatives of top Biden aides also have secured high-level administration jobs or nominations. They include the wife of White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain and the sister of White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

Federal law generally prohibits government officials from hiring close relatives or encouraging their hiring, and there is no evidence that any of Biden’s aides have played a role in securing the jobs for their children or other relatives.

The White House has maintained that everyone hired has been well-qualified for their positions.

“The president has instituted the highest ethical standards of anyone to ever hold this office,” deputy White House press secretary Andrew Bates said, “and he’s proud to have staffed the most diverse administration in American history with well-qualified public servants who reflect his values,” but the hiring of senior aides’ children remains alarming to ethics experts, because it suggests that people with ties to high-ranking public servants might be getting an advantage over similarly qualified people for low-ranking positions, which often serve as a foot in the door to a career in government and politics.....

"The White House reiterated President Joe Biden’s opposition to indexing the gasoline tax to inflation to help pay for an infrastructure plan, raising new questions about the viability of a bipartisan compromise emerging in the Senate. “After the extraordinarily hard times that ordinary Americans endured in 2020 -- job losses, shrinking incomes, squeezed budgets -- he is simply not going to allow Congress to raise taxes on those who suffered the most,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement. A bipartisan group of 21 senators has been working to finish a $579 billion infrastructure proposal to counter a $2.25 trillion plan that Biden initially proposed. A draft outline of the lawmakers’ plan obtained by Bloomberg lists several funding sources that have been opposed by the White House. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also has shot down the idea, dashing prospects House Democrats would go along....."

He claims the job killed him.

His lack of response led to this:

"A woman was injured when she jumped from a second-story balcony Thursday night to escape a massive blaze that destroyed a Cape-style home on Baboosic Lake, fire officials said. Two firefighters were also injured in the fire that broke out shortly before 7 p.m. at 2 Shore Drive Extension. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames and a second-alarm was immediately struck, drawing crews from several surrounding communities, the department said in a statement. The woman who jumped from the balcony was rescued by a passing boater, who took her to an ambulance waiting on shore, which took her to a hospital, the statement said. Her condition was not known. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and had been released from the hospital by Friday morning, Fire Chief Matthew Duke said. By 11 p.m., the fire was mostly out, but the home was on the verge of collapsing. A backhoe from the town’s public works department arrived to tear down the house, allowing firefighters to continue fighting the fire in hard-to -each areas, Duke said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation."

They then took a ride around the neighborhood:

"A 36-year-old Palmer woman died and a juvenile was seriously injured in a rollover crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike Friday afternoon, according to State Police. The woman was driving a 2005 Subaru Forester eastbound when she lost control, causing the vehicle to roll over and cross into the westbound lane at 1:45 p.m., State Police said in a statement. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Witnesses and emergency personnel attempted to perform life-saving measures on the woman, but she died of her injuries, State Police said. The juvenile was taken to Baystate Hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation, State Police said."

"A 1-year-old child was seriously injured in a two-car crash on Route 24 south around 9:40 p.m. Thursday, State Police said. The child was taken to Boston Children’s Hospital. The condition was not known Friday. The child was riding in a Toyota Sienna van driven by a 28-year-old woman from Fall River, State Police said in a statement. The child was riding along with a 3-year-old and a 40-year-old man from Fall River when the car changed lanes due to road construction, the statement said. At the same time, a Volvo S60 sedan driven by a 17-year-old from Taunton was traveling on the highway and it rear-ended the van, “causing both vehicles to spin out of control,” the statement said. The 1-year-old suffered the most serious injuries. The driver and other passengers in the van were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton for treatment of minor injuries. The Volvo driver was taken to Morton Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, State Police said. The crash remains under investigation."

"Police are looking for a man believed to be in his 30s or 40s who they say asked a 13-year-old girl to get into his car as she walked back from a neighbor’s house Tuesday. He is described as a white male, with dark eyes and a wide jaw “and looking as if he works out,” police said. The teen was headed home around 6:05 p.m. when the man allegedly stopped and asked her if she wanted to get in his vehicle, a small black sedan, according to police. The girl immediately returned to her friend’s home and the man left the area. On Friday, police were able to obtain an image of the car they believe the man was driving, Police Chief Sean Gibbons said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wayland Police....."

"Residents can rest easy knowing the culprit behind a series of vehicle break-ins has been identified on video as a bear. The black bear has been spotted in the town over the past few weeks, just as residents began reporting to police that their vehicles had been broken into, Police Chief Ken Miller said. Police believe the bear is looking for food, and they are urging residents to remove food items from their vehicles and not to leave trash outside. In several instances, the bear has climbed into a vehicle’s trunk or the bed of a truck to try and get a bite to eat."

"Wilmington schools suspend staffer after DCF supports abuse allegation; middle school staffer now under investigation" by John R. Ellement Globe Staff, June 17, 2021

The state’s child protection agency is investigating an allegation that a middle school staffer in the Wilmington public schools abused at least one student, which comes after another staffer was placed on leave for allegedly abusing a special needs student in an early childhood center.

In a letter to parents Wednesday, Wilmington Schools Superintendent Glenn Brand wrote that the Department of Children and Families had sustained allegations that a staffer at the Wildwood Early Childhood Center had abused or neglected at least one child. The center offers pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes in 11 classrooms, according to state records and Wilmington Schools.

“We placed the staff in question on administrative leave as soon as we were made aware of those claims,” Brand wrote, adding that an outside investigator has been hired to examine the circumstances at Wildwood. “We recently learned from DCF that some of the claims have been supported.”

Now, the issue has expanded to a separate school and facility — the town’s middle school, which serves grades six through eight.

“Last week, we became aware of a separate series of allegations of misconduct by a staff member at Wilmington Middle School,” Brand wrote. “That staff member has also been placed on administrative leave pending a DCF investigation.”

Brand did not identify the jobs held by the persons under DCF investigation. “Out of respect for all those involved and based on legal requirements, we are not able to discuss the specifics of these cases,” he wrote.....

The speed of job recovery in Massachusetts, which lifted nearly all coronavirus restrictions on May 29, trails national figures. The state’s unemployment rate dipped to 6.1 percent last month compared to a revised rate of 6.4 percent in April. Although the jobless rate is trending downward, that number is higher than the national average, which fell to 5.8 percent last month, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Sunday Globe Noise

The truth is that is all it is no matter what day:

I know I have been brooding a lot lately; however, wildlife is one area where God shows his hand on a daily basis and how else can one see a pestilence sent to parasites?

They should -- and probably will -- make a movie:

"Nature at its craziest: Trillions of cicadas about to emerge" by Seth Borenstein Associated Press, May 5, 2021

COLUMBIA, Md. — Within days, a couple weeks at most, the cicadas of Brood X (the X is the Roman numeral for 10) will emerge after 17 years underground.

When the entire brood emerges, backyards can look like undulating waves, and the bug chorus is lawnmower loud.

The cicadas will mostly come out at dusk to try to avoid everything that wants to eat them, squiggling out of holes in the ground. They’ll try to climb up trees or anything vertical, including Michael Raupp and Paula Shrewsbury. Once off the ground, they shed their skins and try to survive that vulnerable stage before they become dinner to a host of critters including ants, birds, dogs, cats.

It’s one of nature’s weirdest events, featuring sex, a race against death, evolution, and what can sound like a bad science fiction movie soundtrack.

Like, you know, CVD!

Some people may be repulsed. Psychiatrists are calling entomologists worrying about their patients, Shrewsbury said, but scientists say the arrival of Brood X is a sign that despite pollution, climate change, and dramatic biodiversity loss, something is still right with nature, and it’s quite a show.

Raupp presents the narrative of cicada’s lifespan with all the verve of a Hollywood blockbuster: “You’ve got a creature that spends 17 years in a COVID-like existence, isolated underground sucking on plant sap, right? In the 17th year these teenagers are going to come out of the earth by the billions if not trillions. They’re going to try to best everything on the planet that wants to eat them during this critical period of the nighttime when they’re just trying to grow up, they’re just trying to be adults, shed that skin, get their wings, go up into the treetops, escape their predators,” he says.

That's how everything in my paper reads every day, truth be told.

“Once in the treetops, hey, it’s all going to be about romance. It’s only the males that sing. It’s going to be a big boy band up there as the males try to woo those females, try to convince that special someone that she should be the mother of his nymphs. He’s going to perform, sing songs. If she likes it, she’s going to click her wings. They’re going to have some wild sex in the treetop.

“Then she’s going to move out to the small branches, lay their eggs. Then it’s all going to be over in a matter of weeks. They’re going to tumble down. They’re going to basically fertilize the very plants from which they were spawned. Six weeks later the tiny nymphs are going to tumble 80 feet from the treetops, bounce twice, burrow down into the soil, go back underground for another 17 years.”

“This,” Raupp says, “is one of the craziest life cycles of any creature on the planet.”

They really are perverts, getting all horned up about insects and pestilence while trying to create a germ-free world.

What is wrong with these people?

America is the only place in the world that has periodic cicadas that stay underground for either 13 or 17 years, says entomologist John Cooley of the University of Connecticut. The bugs only emerge in large numbers when the ground temperature reaches 64 degrees. That’s happening earlier in the calendar in recent years because of climate change, says entomologist Gene Kritsky. Before 1950 they used to emerge at the end of May; now they’re coming out weeks earlier.

Though there have been some early bugs, in Maryland and Ohio, soil temperatures have been in the low 60s. So Raupp and other scientists believe the big emergence is days away — a week or two, max.

Cicadas who come out early don’t survive. They’re quickly eaten by predators. Cicadas evolved a key survival technique: overwhelming numbers. There’s just too many of them to all get eaten when they all emerge at once, so some will survive and reproduce, Raupp says.

This is not an invasion. The cicadas have been here the entire time, quietly feeding off tree roots underground, not asleep, just moving slowly waiting for their body clocks tell them it is time to come out and breed. They’ve been in America for millions of years, far longer than people.

When they emerge, it gets noisy — 105 decibels noisy, like “a singles bar gone horribly, horribly wrong,” Cooley says. There are three distinct cicada species and each has its own mating song.

They aren’t locusts and the only plants they damage are young trees, which can be netted. The year after a big batch of cicadas, trees actually do better because dead bugs serve as fertilizer, Kritsky says.....

That's when my hearing went on the shit that bugs me.

Let's get one thing clear: people are not insects and should not be experimented upon, period.

The Globe then took the time to hawk a book for a certain politician who $aw her net worth triple in 2020. I'm not saying she should be burnt at the stake, but someone filed a complaint based on coverage thereafter.

Let us all say a prayer as boulders fall from heaven and the world is capsized in a bid to censure the light and run us into darkness. The wrestling match is all too real, folks, as they try to derail one of the handful of heroes who are standing against this madness (may he be consumed in the fires of hell).

"As the U.S. faces a reckoning over its history of racism, some Native American tribal nations that once owned slaves also are grappling with their own mistreatment of Black people. When Native American tribes were forced from their ancestral homelands in the southeastern United States to what is now Oklahoma in the 1800s — known as the Trail of Tears — thousands of Black slaves owned by tribal members also were removed and forced to provide manual labor along the way. Once in Oklahoma, slaves often toiled on plantation-style farms or were servants in tribal members’ homes. Nearly 200 years later, many of the thousands of descendants of those Black slaves, known as Freedmen, are still fighting to be recognized by the tribes that once owned their ancestors. The fight has continued since the killing of George Floyd last year by a Minneapolis police officer spurred a reexamination of the vestiges of slavery in the U.S. The Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee (Creek) and Seminole nations were referred to historically as the Five Civilized Tribes, or Five Tribes, by European settlers because they often assimilated into the settlers’ culture, adopting their style of dress and religion, and even owning slaves. Each tribe also has a unique history with Freedmen, whose rights were ultimately spelled out in separate treaties with the U.S. Today, the Cherokee Nation is the only tribe that fully recognizes the Freedmen as full citizens, a decision that came in 2017 following years of legal wrangling......"

They kill two birds with one stone there as the jew$paper needs to minimize the far greater Holocaust™ than the, you know, while flogging Black slavery again as they remake the history of the country and its enemies, both foreign and domestic, in an attempt to impact future generations to come and bury the past.

The Boston Children’s Museum reopened Saturday after being closed since December due to COVID-19, or you can go fishing off Cape Cod during the burial at sea for a 50-year-old Secret Service agent who died while training during his shift at the Bush family compound at Walker’s Point(?).

If I had one wish for you kids, it would be say no to drugs and don't gamble.

"Scotland election results complicate hopes for independence referendum" by Mark Landler New York Times, May 9, 2021

LONDON — Hopes for a swift path to independence in Scotland were dampened on Saturday, as early election results showed the dominant Scottish nationalist party falling just short of a majority in the country’s parliament.

The results, if confirmed after the votes are fully counted by Saturday evening, would deprive the Scottish National Party of a symbolic victory in a closely-fought election. That, in turn, is likely to stiffen the determination of Prime Minister Boris Johnson of Britain to deny Scottish voters the chance to hold a second referendum on independence, yet pro-independence parties were on track to stay in overall control, which will keep the flame of Scottish nationalism alive and ensure that the threat of Scotland’s breaking away will continue to bedevil the United Kingdom.

While disappointing to the Scottish nationalists, the apparent absence of a clear majority might ultimately work to their advantage, by giving them time to build support for a referendum rather than being stampeded into an immediate campaign by the pressure of an overwhelming mandate.

Still, the result would be a relief to Johnson, for whom the dissolution of the United Kingdom looms as a potentially defining event for his premiership. He remains deeply unpopular in Scotland, and it is not clear how well prepared his government is to counter a reinvigorated push for Scottish independence.

For his part, Johnson was basking in Conservative Party’s victories in regional elections across England, which left the opposition Labour Party in disarray and reinforced his reputation as an inveterate vote-getter, yet some of the same post-Brexit populism that won the Conservatives votes in working-class parts of the Midlands and northern England worked against him in a more liberal and Brexit-averse Scotland.....

Unfortunately, and partly because of Brexit, I feel all elections are now rigged. Cameron was kicked out for allowing the vote, and no amount of apartment refurbishing is going to quell the anger before he is ridden out on a rail

Either that or he starts a war with France.

As for the Scots, the independence movement gained momentum in the wake of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Brexit and the pandemic has further encouraged the idea that Scotland might be better off going its own way, and the Scottish National Party is led by the popular First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, 50, who remains the most popular politician in Scotland by far on issues of “competence, intelligence, being genuine and understanding ordinary people -- she comes up tops on everything,” and unlike Johnson, Sturgeon's popularity has remained strong through the pandemic because "she is perceived to understand ordinary people and then she is perceived to be genuine," but support for the SNP and for independence aren’t as high as they were in the second half of 2020 after she  faced an investigation into whether she had violated a code of conduct in her handling of sexual harassment complaints against her predecessor, Alex Salmond.

"In a show of force, armed militiamen briefly took over a hotel in the Libyan capital of Tripoli that serves as headquarters for the interim government, officials said Saturday. Friday’s development came after the three-member presidential council earlier this week appointed a new chief of the intelligence agency. The militias, which control Tripoli, were apparently unhappy with the choice....."

The agency is Libya’s version of the CIA, the new spy chief was Hussein Khalifa, and on Monday, Najla al-Manqoush, the foreign minister of Libya’s interim government called for the departure of all foreign forces and mercenaries, including Turkish troops, from the oil-rich North African country. That was seen as a rebuke to Turkey and angered pro-Turkey factions in western Libya. U.N. Security Council diplomats say there are more than 20,000 foreign fighters and mercenaries in Libya, including Syrians, Sudanese, Chadians and Russians. Libya was plunged into chaos when a NATO-backed uprising in 2011 toppled longtime ruler Moammar Gadhafi, who was later killed. The oil-rich country was in recent years split between rival east- and west-based administrations, each backed by different armed groups and foreign governments.

Obama turned the jewel of Africa into a hellhole with his lies, damn him!

He should be punished for it, and not just with a fine.

"States asked the federal government this week to withhold staggering amounts of COVID-19 vaccine amid plummeting demand for the shots, contributing to a growing U.S. stockpile of doses. From South Carolina to Washington, states are requesting the Biden administration send them only a fraction of what’s been allocated to them. The turned-down vaccines amount to hundreds of thousands of doses this week alone, providing a stark illustration of the problem of vaccine hesitancy in the U.S. More than 150 million Americans — about 57% of the adult population — have received at least one dose of vaccine, but government leaders from the Biden administration down to the city and county level are doing everything they can to persuade the rest of the country to get inoculated....."

At this point, they are treading into the criminal realm with their insistence that you take the jab, regardless of health condition.

Time to keep on moving:

"The organizer of a Grand Canyon adventure described it as a chance to trek along the South Rim, “one of the greatest hikes in the planet.” By September, at least 100 people from 12 different states had signed up on Facebook for the one-day hike. The organizer, Joseph Don Mount, said on Facebook he hoped more people would sign up for the hike. “If you want to keep inviting friends, I am determined to make this work for as many who want to go,” Mount said, according to federal court documents. A tipster sent the Facebook post to officials at the Grand Canyon National Park, where hikes had been limited to no more than 11 people per group in response to the pandemic. When a park official contacted Mount, he denied that he was planning a large-scale trip, yet, he continued to advertise the hike and to organize cabin stays and shuttle rides for dozens of people, according to court documents. By Oct. 24, the day of the hike, more than 150 people had paid $95 to register for the trip. That morning, at least 150 people showed up at the North Kaibab Trail, astounding rangers and overwhelming other visitors who struggled to steer clear of the hikers, many of whom were not wearing masks or social distancing, according to the documents. On Tuesday, Mount was charged in the U.S. District Court in Arizona with five separate counts, including giving a false report, interfering with a government employee or agent acting in an official duty, soliciting business in a federal park without a permit, and violating restrictions for group sizes for park visits and restrictions related to Covid-19. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Mount said he had arranged the trip because “with Covid and everything, people were just itching to get out. I didn’t do it for profit,” he said. Timothy Hopp, a U.S. park ranger, said in an affidavit that Mount collected $15,185 from participants for the hiking event......"

This comes as even the New York Times admits the CDC lied about outdoor transmission of the nonexistent virus that was used for unconstitutional lockdowns that were needed to protect our environment

You know, the music was so loud I couldn't hear a thing she said, and watch where you step!

So how long until the rockets start flying, Hallelujah, Hallelujah?

We will all be transplanted into the ground after the fall?

The War on Terror has come home, just as "conspiracy theorists" said it would:

"From supporting US forces in Afghanistan to running Rhode Island’s COVID-19 response; How Thomas McCarthy, the executive director of the state’s COVID-19 Response Team, took the lessons he learned through multiple tours of duty and applied them to the pandemic" by Alexa Gagosz Globe Staff, May 7, 2021

PROVIDENCE — Early in his career as a cavalry officer in Iraq and Afghanistan, Thomas McCarthy was partnering with local authorities to help restore governance and security in the region. He would work on projects that would ensure access to clean drinking water and help deliver essentials such as food and medical supplies to civilians.

He was a soldier in the U.S. Army Aviation Branch, and gaining the trust of local residents was a hurdle that took time to overcome. In Afghanistan, where he spent the majority of his deployments, most of the population could not access the Internet, and communication was oftentimes by word-of-mouth. In some areas, there was a tremendous amount of distrust for the local government, and because of some people’s experiences, there was little trust for outsiders as well. Engaging with the civilians on a day-to-day basis was critical.

“If you weren’t providing information and if you weren’t a trusted agent yet, that vacuum of information would very quickly be filled with someone else’s narrative,” McCarthy recently told the Globe. “While most of my time was in direct combat units, the emphasis was always on building enduring, sustainable capacity among our local counterparts to best serve the people.”

And now?

The lessons he learned in Afghanistan serve him well now, as the executive director of Rhode Island’s COVID-19 Response Team. In this role, McCarthy and his team oversee the surveillance COVID-19 testing program, data analytics and modeling teams, public health interventions including treatment and vaccines, and all operations for delivering the state’s COVID response to the public.

Why is a "health" crisis under a MILITARY command?

Because they are really WAGING WAR ON US?

McCarthy, who retired from active duty as a major in 2017, was appointed by then-governor Gina M. Raimondo in mid-February.

A native Rhode Islander, McCarthy stands shoulder-to-shoulder with state health director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott at the governor’s weekly coronavirus press conferences, presenting clear information to residents about how to get vaccinated and what they can do to help protect their households against COVID-19. He’s listened to the issues that residents have had throughout the vaccine rollout, and has been part of the operational team that has looked for ways to make the vaccine more accessible, to help eliminate hesitancy and, ultimately, build trust.

While the obstacles he faced in Afghanistan were vastly different, he says the issues of distrust, building rapport, and cutting through misinformation during the pandemic in Rhode Island are familiar.

“Knowing that the health and safety of all Rhode Islanders is reliant on this operation to be successful has made this so unique and special from any position I held previously,” said McCarthy, who grew up in North Kingstown in a full house with three brothers and a sister. He and his wife, Jessica McCarthy, a spokeswoman for Care New England Health System, and their two school-age daughters moved back to Rhode Island about three years ago when he took a job at CVS Health.

He went from being an Aviation Task Force Commander, where he was mentoring and developing more than 60 soldiers, two intelligence analysts, and employing a cavalry troop of seven Apache and a medical team of three Blackhawks in Afghanistan to becoming the director of Pharmacy Benefits Management Innovation at the health care giant.

It was a great position, he said, but when COVID-19 hit, he was “in agony.”

As are we all.

At least she has the energy to take them on, as opposed to the local ce$$pool of political corruption.

What a literal piece of shit who should be charged with manslaughter.

They should sic the dogs on her and stick to the plan while awaiting Trump's return.

You may be homeless by then, but the suffering is worth it.

It's stupid to keep wearing a mask, unless it is a fashion statement.

"For decades, the austere hospital has stood as a monument to poor urban planning, critics say, a brick-covered eyesore looming over the city’s largest park and an enduring affront to Frederick Law Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace, yet the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital and surrounding buildings on a 13-acre campus carved out of a tree-shaded meadow in Franklin Park in the 1950s have long provided essential medical care and social services for the homeless and substance dependent that would be difficult to place elsewhere. Now, with the aging hospital slated to close in three years and city officials considering sweeping changes to the park, tensions are mounting over the fate of the state-owned property. It’s an emotional dispute that underscores Franklin Park’s importance to the city and an abiding hope that its original promise can be realized in full....."

At least you can still go to the zoo:

"Last Wednesday night, during a Boston community meeting to address the age-old problem of youngsters raising a ruckus, John Linehan, the president and CEO of Zoo New England, made a curious assertion. The noisy parties and dirt-bike traffic that have become increasingly common near the zoo as pandemic restrictions have loosened had left the facility’s animals distressed, he said. Since early on in the pandemic, scientists have been attempting to discern the various effects of the pandemic on wildlife across the world, but the effects on zoo animals, many of whom reside in urban areas that have undergone significant change during the past year of isolation, appears to remain a largely unexplored frontier. Did you know, for instance, that the reduced traffic noise in the San Francisco Bay Area has led to a shift in song frequency in white-crowned sparrows, according to a study published in Science magazine, or that Northern Italy’s improved pandemic-era air quality resulted in a boost in egg-laying by the common swift? The particulars of how this is playing out at the Franklin Park Zoo, alas, remain largely shrouded in mystery. Citing ongoing COVID concerns, a spokeswoman for the facility recently declined a Globe reporter’s request to tour the zoo and speak with zookeepers about how, for instance, the Sardinian dwarf donkeys and Madagascar hissing cockroaches have been faring amid the recent commotion....."

Maybe you should try the Aquarium instead, and it must have been a wild ride into captivity, and not so long ago, in the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic, Boston-area renters had a rare advantage in their long-running struggle with landlords to find a good apartment they can afford. That time is ending. As the region quickly opens back up this spring, with sidewalks coming to life and restaurants repopulating, apartment hunters are coming back, too. Young professionals are contemplating at least occasional trips to the office. Students are plotting their return to college, and Boston’s typically tight rental market is rapidly returning to form. Rents in recent weeks have surged toward prepandemic levels (good luck finding a job, kids) as many in Massachusetts mark the easing of pandemic restrictions with parties, vacations, and other social gatherings, one enormous group is feeling left behind: families with children under the age of 12. Young people ages 12 to 15 became eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations this week, but hundreds of thousands of younger children are not — and likely won’t be for months. That’s leaving countless families uncertain about when and where it’s safe to play, eat, and just go about their lives — even after most adults are vaccinated. Young children are much less likely to become severely ill from COVID, but it does happen, and guidance about what’s safe seems to be constantly changing, forcing vaccinated parents with unvaccinated children to make countless calculations of everyday risks when venturing out. Take Tim Langan and his family in Somerville (which is a Sh!thole from what I see).

There should be some sort of penalty for the putting kids at risk, and while outdoor mask wearing has become noticeably more mixed, putting on a face covering while going inside still seems ingrained, according to businesses and shoppers and  “it would be weird not wearing it.”

What a guilt trip, but it is time to move on and put the past behind us! The fire is out and the feast is set to begin after the fall of the king in record time (possible drunk driving?)

Liberals may despair, but there may be another way to tyranny as we sail off into the sunset and blow you one final kiss before turning off the radio.
