Mubarak and the Media

Imagine if this happened in Iran....

"One prominent US television correspondent, Anderson Cooper of CNN, was struck in the head repeatedly. “State-controlled television has been broadcasting soap operas and cooking shows for the past few days until today.’’

CAIRO — Foreign journalists were beaten with sticks and fists by progovernment mobs yesterday, and dozens were detained by security forces.

And the U.S. is STILL BACKING this THUGGISH REGIME as I type this?

The United States condemned what it called the systematic targeting of the reporters, photographers, and film crews who have brought searing images of Egyptian protests to the world.

Among the many detained were correspondents for The New York Times, Washington Post, and Al-Jazeera....

I'm sorry that a smile crept across my face there; however, them getting a taste of what reporters have had to endure in U.S. custody leaves me feeling no empathy or sympathy.
