It's amazing the things you can find when you sift through a Boston Globe dustpan:
"CALL FOR JUSTICE -- Protests marked International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women in Guatemala. Over 2,200 women and girls have been killed in the nation since 2001, said Amnesty International, which calls the official response ineffective (Boston Globe November 26 2010)."
The only way you would know there was a protest was if you purchased a printed paper a saw the photograph.
And again:
"ANGRY INMATES IN CHILE -- Inmates gathered atop a prison in Antofagasta, north of Santiago, Chile, during clashes with police yesterday. More than a dozen inmates were injured during riots in support of 81 inmates who died on Dec. 8 in a prison fire (Boston Globe December 22 2010)."

Update:
"SPECIAL GUESTS -- Chilean miners and their rescuers waved to guests while serving as the grand marshals for the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida yesterday. The miners were trapped in a collapsed mine in San Jose, Chile, for 69 days before being rescued last October. All of the 33 men who were trapped were eventually pulled from the mine one by one in a carefully planned rescue that mesmerized the world (Boston Globe February 2 2011)."

"GONE WITH THE WIND -- Officers from Panama's special forces unit stood in the shadow of a massive plume of smoke after igniting narcotics in a drug disposal operation yesterday in Panama City.
