Slow Saturday Special: Egyptians Protest Israel

They are only voicing the way most of the world feels right now.

CAIRO — Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood staged an anti-Israel rally in Cairo on Friday, the first such protest by the main backers of President Mohammed Morsi since they rose to prominence in the wake of the country’s 2011 uprising.

Just wanted you to understand the prism you are seeing through.

Emerging from weekly services at Al-Azhar mosque — the centuries-old seat of Sunni Muslim learning — demonstrators chanted ‘‘the people want the destruction of Israel’’ in protest of recent Israeli airstrikes in Syria and the detention of a Palestinian Muslim cleric.

Did they just mistranslate that, or.... ?

Sorry I haven't gotten to the Israeli aggression against Syria yet, but I spent a week cleaning up months of stories only to find in the two month interim the same lies repeated over and over. Not surprising anymore, but it sure is discouraging.

At one point, leading Brotherhood member Mohammed el-Beltagy shouted: ‘‘We will repeat it over and over, Israel is our enemy.’’

Get in line. Not talking annihilation of the place here. It's just a feeling regarding their atrocious behavior. They are the enemy of the world right now. It's a extradition-free haven for Jewish criminals is what it is.

Others echoed the call, and one organizer whipped up the crowd in a chant urging the army to launch a war against Israel to ‘‘liberate Palestine . . . from the sons of monkeys and pigs.’’

Mistranslated, or.... and did he whip 'em up like my government used to be able to do for the wars until all the lies crumbled and collapsed like a 110-story WTC tower?

Since the revolt that deposed Hosni Mubarak, the Brotherhood has largely avoided showing enmity to the West or Israel.

Okay, here is the deal: The Brotherhood was indeed created by western intelligence (British mostly) around 100 years ago after the Ottoman Empire dissolved after WWI. In the interim they have spun off and developed their own ideas of what they want to do (much like Hamas after Israel created them to oppose Arafat), and this at times conflicts with EUSraeli goals.

Thus there is the squandering of cash reserves and gold (a whole another thing I won't go into here, the gold grab because of fraudulent banking practices) in response to IMF demands (being u$ed as pre$$ure for au$terity, as it always is).

Morsi himself has repeatedly stressed commitment to Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel, and won US praise by brokering a cease-fire between Palestinian Hamas militants and the Jewish state.

Yeah, again, if he toes the line (Syria and Iran, too, don't leave that out) he's fine; when he defends Palestinians he's met with controlled-opposition, US intelligence agency asset protests. When you see Mubarak supporters and "liberals" lining up together, well.... you do your own thinking.

And that flat-out, no-big-deal reference to the racist, supremacist, apartheid state that raises no hackles is telling. Compare it to coverage of any "Islamic" state (meaning any nation governed by Muslims) in my jewspaper. But I digress.

But both the Islamist president and his group have had a hard time melding their longtime anti-Jewish stance with new responsibilities since coming to power.

Meaning they are finding difficulty in hewing the EUSraeli line against the wishes of their own population -- AND VOTERS, remember?!

And it's not even anti-Israel now, it's anti-Jewish, meaning anti-semitic, meaning.... wow, the screeching and shrieking by mass media mouthpieces has gone over the top.
