Sunday Globe Special: Quabbin Piece Makes Me Want to Quit

It's not that far away from here, either.

At 12:01 a.m. April 28, 1938, the Central/Western Massachusetts towns of Dana, Enfield, Greenwich and Prescott were officially “dis-incorporated” — or ceased to exist to make way for the Quabbin Reservoir.

The towns, all of which at one point had celebrated their centennials and been multi-generational homes for many families, were flooded after their buildings were dismantled.

All so Boston could have drinking water.

Seventy-five years later, however, some things could be said to live on in the Swift River Valley area....

James M. Hunt of Worcester, whose photo exhibit, “Quabbin Memories, Boston's Water,” opened this week at the Worcester Jewish Community Center....
