"Woman kills teenager in Czech school attack" Associated Press October 15, 2014
PRAGUE — A woman stabbed a teenage boy to death and injured two other students in an apparently random attack Tuesday at a high school in the Czech Republic, police said.
Spokeswoman Jana Kroutilova said the attack took place Tuesday morning in the central town of Zdar nad Sazavou, 75 miles southeast of Prague.
Kroutilova said the victim was a 16-year old boy. She said the 26-year-old female suspect also injured two teenage girls and a police officer before she was arrested.
Regional police chief Radek Malir said the suspect took one of the injured girls hostage but a police unit from a nearby nuclear power plant pacified her with a stun gun.
Police said the suspect was from a different Czech region and it was not immediately clear why she attacked the students.
Malir said police believe the suspect selected the town and the school at random.
Prime Minister Boslav Sobotka said he was shocked that the suspect was the same mentally ill woman who committed a similar attack two years ago in northeastern Czech Republic.
During that attack at an elementary school in Havirov, she took a 7-year-old girl hostage and stabbed an adult employee.
