The case became the centerpiece of the Justice Department’s push to clean up the troubled New Orleans Police Department....
Twenty current or former New Orleans police officers have been charged in a series of Justice Department probes, most of which center on actions during the aftermath of Katrina. "Trailer makers OK $14.8m Katrina victims’ deal; Settlement to end claims shelters let off toxic fumes" by Michael Kunzelman | Associated Press, April 18, 2012
NEW ORLEANS - Nearly two dozen companies that manufactured government-issued trailers for storm victims after Hurricane Katrina have agreed to pay $14.8 million in a proposed class-action settlement of claims that the temporary shelters exposed occupants to hazardous fumes.
Are you sure they are not looking to kill us all?
Plaintiffs’ lawyer Gerald Meunier said Tuesday that the agreement could benefit tens of thousands of Gulf Coast residents who lived in travel trailers provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency after hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
Meunier said 21 trailer makers or their insurers will pay to resolve the claims without any admission of wrongdoing.
The proposed settlement does not involve the federal government and does not resolve all pending claims against other companies that provided FEMA with travel trailers after Katrina....
Government tests on hundreds of trailers in Louisiana and Mississippi found formaldehyde levels that were, on average, about five times what people are exposed to in most modern homes. FEMA downplayed formaldehyde risks for months before those test results were announced in February 2008.

"Gulf oil spill panel critical of congressional inaction" by Matthew Daly | Associated Press, April 18, 2012
WASHINGTON - A presidential commission that investigated
the Gulf oil spill blasted Congress for inaction Tuesday as it issued a
report card on industry and government response to the massive BP oil
spill....
Congress received a “D’’ from the seven former commissioners, who have reunited to press for action to improve drilling safety.

"Congress’s
lack of action stands in contrast to both the Obama administration and
the oil industry, which have both made important safety advances, former senator Bob Graham of
Florida, a Democrat who cochaired the presidential commission, and other commissioners said. The administration received a “B’’
grade while the oil industry received a “C-plus.’’
A partisan presidential commission distributing propaganda in the form of an inane and insulting "report card."

Let's face it, folks, the AmeriKan media has been misleading and minimizing the situation from the start.
And why we are on the subject of oil:
Obama seeking to curb oil prices
He's really got some nerve after jacking the price up for Israel.
