Slow Saturday Special: McLaughlin Gets Extra Minutes

"Former Chelsea Housing Authority chief Michael McLaughlin sentenced for defrauding HUD

Michael E. McLaughlin, former executive director of the Chelsea Housing Authority, was ordered to serve 12 months in prison and pay a fine following his conviction for conspiring to defraud the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, officials said Friday. McLaughlin, 68, of Dracut, is currently serving a three-year sentence for falsifying records to conceal his $360,000 salary, US Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz said in a statement. In addition, he will serve the 12 months and pay a $3,000 fine for rigging the inspection process for federally funded housing units. McLaughlin conspired from 2006 to 2011 to repair units in advance of inspections, the statement said."
