"Gun control backers walk Brooklyn Bridge, demand action" by Jonathan Lemire | Associated Press June 15, 2014
NEW YORK — A tear-stained rallying cry embraced by those who believe the United States needs tougher gun control laws.
More than 1,000 demonstrators — including nearly 100 from Newtown, Conn., the site of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting rampage — marched across the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday, demanding that action be taken to stem the recent wave of mass shootings across the nation.
The gun rights rallies alway draws more.
‘‘I want to see our laws protect our children, not our gun lobbyists,’’ said Andrew Morosky, 48, who lives in Newtown and whose children were friends with some of the 20 students who were killed along with six educators. ‘‘After what happened, I felt like I had to do something. I sat on the sidelines for too long.’’
The event was organized by several groups — including Moms Demand Action, Everytown for Gun Safety, and Mayors Against Illegal Guns — which are all funded by former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg.
He's a lone gunman, of $orts!
Bloomberg, who was not in attendance, has become one of the nation’s most visible gun control advocates and has pumped millions of his own money into the cause.
The rally began in downtown Brooklyn....

"Study of US teens finds decline in risky behaviors; Smoking, drug use fell; texting at the wheel rose" by Mike Stobbe | Associated Press June 13, 2014
NEW YORK — Generally speaking, the news is good. Most forms of drug use, weapons use, and risky sex have been going down since the government started doing the survey every two years in 1991, according to the government’s latest study of worrisome behavior.
That so flies in the face of THIS and what was above!!
The key to good propaganda is to be consistent, guys!

They say teen smoking down, marijuana up, had texted or e-mailed behind the wheel, drinking of alcohol down, drinking of soda down, TV viewing stalled, but there was a surge in playing video or computer games using a computer or smartphone.
Video-gaming is up, particularly among teen boys, some researchers believe most of the screen-time increase is because of social media use. And it is probably not a good thing, they say.
Are you ready for WAR, as the TV commercial says?!
Through texts and social media, young people are doing more communicating and living in an online world in which it is easier to think they are the center of the universe, said Marina Krcmar, a Wake Forest University professor who studies teen screen time. That can lead to a form of extended adolescence, she said.
You would think they are reading newspapers.
It can also distract youngsters from schoolwork, exercise, and other healthy activities, she said.
Fights at school fell by half in the past 20 years. And there was a dramatic drop in teens reporting they had been in a fight anywhere in the preceding year. The addition of more guards and new security measures may be a factor, said school violence expert Todd DeMitchell of the University of New Hampshire.
Then bullying is not as big of a problem as I was led to believe?

Fighting may be down, but it’s not uncommon, according to some teens at the High School for Fashion Industries in lower Manhattan, where most of the students are girls. Two students said they saw about one fight a week.
Oooh, cat fight!
