California Fires Flare as Tanker Fleet Grounded

"Northern California wildfire demolishes 5 homes" Associated Press   October 10, 2014

APPLEGATE, Calif. — The fires along Interstate 80 broke out Wednesday, the same day that California’s fleet of 22 air tankers was grounded after one of the planes crashed while battling a separate wildfire in Yosemite National Park, killing the pilot.

Crews fighting the small fires along the interstate about 40 miles northeast of Sacramento were relying on air tankers from the US Forest Service, helicopters, and ground crews, said California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokesman Daniel Berlant....

Crews were focusing on protecting homes and keeping the fires out of the American River canyon, where another fire this year showed explosive growth, Berlant said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fires, but officials said they were looking into the possibility that human activity was to blame.

Call it the global-warming complex! Always gotta be a $capegoat to blame.

NEXT DAY UPDATE:

"The state was fortunate that air tankers under contract to the federal government were able to step in to fill the gap because there currently are few fires elsewhere in the nation, CalFire Director Ken Pimlott said. None of the reactivated air tankers was immediately dispatched, and the aircraft likely won't be. Still, officials said it was good to have them back during the fire season that has been extended by drought and unseasonably hot, dry weather."

"Obama designates national monument in LA area" Associated Press   October 11, 2014

SAN DIMAS, Calif. — President Obama on Friday spared from future development nearly 350,000 acres of land within the San Gabriel Mountains northeast of Los Angeles, a move that cheered environmentalists but sparked new criticism of Obama’s willingness to use his executive authority.

Then initiate impeachment hearings or shut up. they criticize him about this but applaud a war dictatorship. Political $how fooley.

Obama used his authority under the federal Antiquities Act to turn the area into a national monument. He cited Abraham Lincoln’s decision to preserve parts of the Yosemite Valley without ever having seen it as inspiration for steps he has taken in office to preserve more than 3 million acres of public lands.

‘‘And I'm not finished,’’ Obama said, making the announcement at Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park. ‘‘We are looking at additional opportunities to preserve federal lands and waters, and I’ll continue to do so, especially where communities are speaking up.’’

Supporters say Obama’s move will provide recreational opportunities for millions of people, particularly minorities and children, who live in Los Angeles County. The county is one of the most disadvantaged areas in terms of access to open space, according to the White House.

Local officials and some lawmakers faulted Obama for acting without support from Congress or the public, but Obama said officials heard from a lot of urban families who said that this area constituted their only outdoor space and that their children didn’t have parks.

Officials also expressed concerns about potential use restrictions on the hundreds of thousands of acres that will be forever preserved.

Why forever? Nothing is forever. The next president could issue an executive order countermanding that and allow for resource extraction, because that is what the beef is here.

Since taking office, Obama has created or expanded 13 national monuments across the country, including Friday’s action.

And he has created or expanded just about as many wars, too.

Years ago I thought it was good when Clinton did the same thing; now I see it as Obummer's big expansion of the Agenda 21 program and the New World Order.

Oh, right, I forgot. The same people promoting environmentali$m are the same ones befouling the environment with their war agenda. How about that, huh?
