If that isn't the face of evil I don't know what is.
Philanthropist Bill Gates, who has long warned of the need to prepare for pandemics, is dumbfounded by how poorly the United States has responded to Covid-19.
In an interview with STAT, Gates sounded exasperated at times as he described the badly bungled launch of Covid-19 testing, the enlisting of a neuroradiologist — rather than an epidemiologist or infectious diseases specialist — to help guide the White House’s response decisions, and the recent move to discourage testing of people who have been in contact with a known case but who aren’t yet showing symptoms.
“You know, this has been a mismanaged situation every step of the way,” Gates said in the wide-ranging interview. “It’s shocking. It’s unbelievable — the fact that we would be among the worst in the world.”
He leveled his harshest criticism at Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn, who mischaracterized findings from a Mayo Clinic study on Covid-19 and said researchers had seen a 35% survival benefit with the use of convalescent plasma. “Many of you know I was a cancer doctor before I became FDA commissioner,” Hahn said at the time, “and a 35% improvement in survival is a pretty substantial clinical benefit.”
“This is third grade math. I mean, are you kidding?” Gates said. “The head of the FDA got up and said it was a 35% death reduction where it’s not even a 3% reduction based on just a tiny little subset that was nonstatistical. This is unheard of.”
In fact, there are no data from randomized controlled trials to indicate whether convalescent plasma — an antibody rich blood product created from blood donations from Covid-19 survivors — actually increases survival. The as-yet unpublished Mayo Clinic study only reports that Covid patients who received plasma infusions with high levels of antibodies fared better than those whose plasma infusions contained lower levels of antibodies.
Hahn later said wider criticism of his remarks was “entirely justified,” and acknowledged his misstatement.
Early in the outbreak, as it was becoming clear the new coronavirus was spreading from China, experts from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation were in regular contact with the Trump administration, urging officials to come up with a plan for who to test and how to test them, and to get surveillance data up on the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Gates said from the start the foundation insisted that commercial laboratories should only be paid for their work if they returned test results within 24 hours — a target rarely reached in the U.S. response. Anything longer than that meant the tests were not useful for containing spread of the virus, he said, adding: “You get to write apology notes to the people you infected in the meantime.”
This advice still isn’t being heeded. “I’ve been saying this and I just don’t get why it hasn’t changed,” Gates said.
They finally stopped listening to the genocidal monster, who is exasperated?

The CDC’s early missteps on testing — “they created this overly complicated test,” Gates said — was followed by a slow rollout of commercial tests. The commercial tests use polymerase chain reaction, or PCR, to look for small fragments of the genetic material of the virus in mucus swabbed out of the nasal passages of people who are tested.
“We have way more PCR machines than any country in the world. I mean, we are PCR central,” he said with emphasis. “So, the idea that we actually made it harder to get PCR tests approved by the commercial sector, it’s mind-blowing.”
What is mind-blowing is 90% of them are false positives that don't even detect COVID.
Gates is also perplexed as to why testing is still being conducted using nasopharyngeal swabs — an unpleasant procedure that people liken to having your brain stabbed. The Gates Foundation led research that showed swabs circled in the nostril were as accurate and far easier to administer. They also don’t trigger bouts of coughing that can spread the virus, “but even today in this country, that’s not 100% [of the tests],” Gates said. “So, you have health care workers getting coughed on and people are reluctant to take the test because of that obsolete approach is still quite prevalent.”
We know about the pain, and the brain stabbing has something to do with the sensitive plate right next to your brain. I don't know why they would want to get near that, either. Can't be a good reason. That doesn't mean I trust Gates.
Likewise, Gates could not believe the administration’s recent move to rewrite CDC testing guidance to state that people who weren’t displaying symptoms didn’t need to be tested. Experts said the revised recommendations will make it harder to find and isolate people who are just becoming infectious — undermining efforts to limit spread of the virus. “It blows the mind,” Gates said.
My mind is blown that this fraud continues.
The new advice reportedly had the support of Scott Atlas, a recent addition to the White House coronavirus task force. Atlas, a neuroradiologist and a public policy fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, has reportedly been advocating a policy of allowing the virus to spread unchecked so the country can reach herd immunity quicker.
The fact is, we ALREADY HAVE IT based on the alleged asymptomatic cases of which only 0.01% are fatal, mostly elderly with co-morbidities-- and that is by their very own caseloads and numbers. Do the math.

Although Gates has spoken to President Trump about a number of health issues before the pandemic — and the importance of preparedness — he said his “most active communication” these days is with Francis Collins, the director of the National Institutes of Health, and Anthony Fauci, the director the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Yeah, we know who are his bagmen inside government.

Gates did credit the administration for the work it has done to fast-track development of Covid-19 vaccines, through the initiative known as Operation Warp Speed. Even there, though, he feels the administration’s unwillingness to support efforts to help low- and middle-income countries to buy pandemic vaccine is self-defeating.
He has been pressing Congress to contribute $4 billion to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to help finance that work and an additional $4 billion to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria to help low- and middle-income countries access Covid-19 tests and therapies.
“We did a good job funding R&D [on vaccines], but … we’re not getting any credit for the R&D funding,” Gates said. “All you have to do is the four plus four, $8 billion total, and then people will see, even though the U.S. made some mistakes, at least our desire to cooperate, help others and use our R&D capacity, at least, you know, they’ll see it in a positive light.”

A coronavirus vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center started undergoing testing on volunteers in a large study Wednesday, the fourth vaccine candidate to reach that milestone but the first that would offer protection from COVID-19 after one shot instead of two.
Researchers plan to begin dosing up to 60,000 volunteers in the Phase 3 clinical trial in the United States ― including Boston ― and abroad following encouraging interim results of a study of the vaccine in about 400 volunteers, according to officials from J&J and the federal government.
The smaller study has yet to be subjected to peer review and is expected to be published on a preprint server later this week. It showed that a single dose stimulated a robust immune response and caused relatively few side effects, said the officials. Some recipients experienced a fever and flu-like symptoms, but the side effects disappeared in a day or two.
“We are convinced that a single dose could be very efficacious,” Dr. Paul Stoffels, J&J’s executive vice president and chief scientific officer, said in a news briefing. He was joined by Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and other federal officials.
Dr. Dan Barouch, head of Beth Israel’s Center for Virology and Vaccine Research in Boston, which helped develop the vaccine and tested it in laboratory monkeys, said a single-dose regimen has obvious advantages over a vaccine that requires a shot and a booster dose months or years later.
“Think about yourself,” he said in a phone interview. “It would be so much easier to go to your doctor for a one-and-done shot then to remember to go back for a booster shot, and, of course, on a global scale for a global vaccine campaign, it’s much easier. The amount [of vaccine] you make goes twice as far.”

J&J, based in New Brunswick, N.J., has pledged to make 1 billion doses in 2021 and will provide it on a not-for-profit basis during the pandemic, Stoffels said. The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, part of the US Department of Health and Human Services, has committed more than $1 billion to enable the company to make and deliver the vaccine.
The three other vaccines in late-stage trials were developed by Cambridge-based Moderna in a collaboration with NIAID, Pfizer and the German biotechnology firm BioNTech, and AstraZeneca in a partnership with scientists from Oxford University. Those vaccines require two doses taken several weeks apart.
Like J&J, Moderna and AstraZeneca have received billions of dollars from the federal government to develop and advance their vaccines as part of the public-private partnership called Operation Warp Speed. Pfizer will receive nearly $2 billion from the government to make 100 million doses of its vaccine if it wins approval from the Food and Drug Administration, but the New York-based pharmaceutical giant declined to take funding up front.
The J&J vaccine trial will enroll 60,000 volunteers at up to 215 research sites, making it the largest late-stage coronavirus clinical trial to date. The sites include hospitals and clinics in the United States, Mexico, South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. At least one site is in Boston, at Massachusetts General Hospital, according to the website clinicaltrials.gov and a hospital spokeswoman.
That is how they are going to spread the second wave.
Pfizer is testing its vaccine on 44,000 volunteers. Moderna and AstraZeneca are each testing their vaccines on 30,000 volunteers.
The J&J vaccine is entering the late-stage clinical trial two months after Moderna and Pfizer began the first Phase 3 studies on July 27.
Fauci said he expects that interim results of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines will become available in November or December. He didn’t rule out October but called that “unlikely.” He predicted that researchers will know whether the J&J vaccine works a month or two after the Moderna and Pfizer data are made public.
Stoffels said he expected the large trial of the J&J vaccine will take less time than those for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, in part because volunteers will receive only one shot.
“That’s why we still can predict around the year’s end we will have efficacy data,” Stoffels said.
Half of the volunteers in the J&J trial will get the actual vaccine, and half will get a placebo. Neither the recipients nor those administering the shots know who got the real thing.
As with the other vaccine candidates, scientists will assess whether the J&J vaccine works by comparing the infection rates of people who got the vaccine with those who got the placebo. J&J will consider it effective if it prevents 60 percent of COVID-19 cases, higher than the 50 percent threshold set for the Moderna vaccine.

The vaccine developed by J&J and Beth Israel uses the human adenovirus ― which causes the common cold ― to deliver part of the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus into cells to stimulate antibodies. J&J used this approach to develop a vaccine against Ebola virus disease that recently won marketing authorization from the European Commission.
So they will inoculate you with the common cold, which is what COVID is, and then call it COVID when you get sick. What a scam!
The vaccine candidate of AstraZeneca also relies on an adenovirus, but that trial is on pause in the United States as a result of serious neurological illnesses in two participants who received the experimental vaccine in Britain.
The Moderna and Pfizer vaccines rely on messenger RNA, the molecule that relays genetic instructions from DNA to the protein-making machinery of human cells. Those vaccines are supposed to teach the body to produce viral proteins after injection, prompting the immune system to react and build up antibodies that would protect recipients against the coronavirus. No mRNA vaccine has ever won approval.
You do not want either of those!

In another apparent advantage, Barouch said, the J&J vaccine can be stored in liquid form at refrigerator temperatures for at least a month, unlike the mRNA vaccine candidates, which must be kept frozen, including when they are shipped around the world.
Vaccine experts say “cold chain” storage of a vaccine can be especially challenging in poor countries.
“The Pfizer vaccine has to be kept frozen at minus 94 degrees Fahrenheit,” said Dr. Peter Hotez, dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, who is working with a biotech in India on a potential coronavirus vaccine based on older technology. “How do you create a distribution network with something as daunting as that?”

By simplifying and clarifying them, Ms. Wilmes was attempting to reinvigorate public support — not to defeat the virus, but to live with it....."

Six months into the coronavirus pandemic, the Massachusetts economy has bounced back faster than expected, but downtown Boston remains a ghost town, and until that changes, a complete recovery will remain out of reach.
That was the sobering assessment Wednesday from Eric Rosengren, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, who said additional progress will be tough as the country struggles to control the virus and gridlock prevents Congress from providing a much-needed financial shot in the arm.
Rosengren also raised a warning about credit drying up as small and midsize banks are hit by defaults on mortgage and small-business loans, even as he scolded large banks for not participating in an emergency lending program orchestrated by the Boston Fed.

In an interview, Rosengren conceded he is more pessimistic than many of his Fed colleagues. His primary concern: the likelihood that a second wave of COVID-19 infections will trigger new travel restrictions and a retreat in business and consumer confidence. The public will probably remain skittish until there is a vaccine, he said.
A large portion of the state’s white-collar employees continue to work remotely, devastating the businesses that support them in Boston.
“It’s going to be very difficult for Massachusetts to fully recover until Boston fully recovers,” he said, “and a full recovery in Boston requires people to occupy the office buildings we have downtown.”
Earlier Wednesday, in remarks prepared for delivery to the Boston Economic Club, Rosengren said, “I believe the most difficult part of the recovery is still ahead of us."
The planned second wave casedemic will a$$ure no recovery at all.
