"NH travel officials studying welcome centers" by Kathy McCormack Associated Press / July 15, 2011
CONCORD, N.H.—New Hampshire's Division of Travel and Tourism Development is looking at ways to improve the state's welcome centers, such as adding computers and having staffers go through a hospitality training program to better assist tourists.
The budget has allowed the creation of a Bureau of Visitor Services with a staff of four employees to help improve tourism opportunities in the state.
This as teachers, cops, and firefighters are being liad off?
The division is part of the state's Department of Resources and Economic Development....
Otherwise known as the Wasting Taxpayer Money Department.
Good job for a friend, though.
Under the budget, several centers that are open for part of the year will be closed to cut costs....
Then why does the article imply.... sigh.
I'm so tired of deceit, deception, and distortion in my "newspaper."
Other centers originally on the list for closure -- Colebrook, Lebanon, Littleton, Sanbornton and Shelburne -- are remaining open....
Lori Harnois, director of the Division of Travel and Tourism Development said Friday that the state is hoping to form public-private partnerships within the tourism industry for the long-term operation of all the welcome centers.
Hey, the corporations are calling the shots throughout these United States and D.C.
In the meantime, "we're currently trying to get a good handle on the daily operations of them," she said. "Future goals are to enhance the visitor's experience. It's the first interaction the visitor has with New Hampshire."

Maybe you might consider making it home?
Tourism is one of the state's largest industries, bringing in $4 billion in direct spending by visitors and $132.2 million in meals and room taxes. It supports about 60,500 jobs.
I'm sorry, but I'M NOT a BIG FAN of TOURISM being the BASIS for an ECONOMY! That is characteristic UNDERDEVELOPED THIRD WORLD NATIONS, America.
Oh where, oh where, have ALL the FACTORIES GONE, huh?

"Leaders’ wives urge support for military families; Obama, Biden at N.H. events" July 25, 2011|Associated Press
CONCORD, N.H. - Military families in New Hampshire got a boost yesterday as Michelle Obama and Jill Biden offered their thanks at a National Guard cookout.
“Thank you for your service; thank you for your sacrifice; thank you for everything you have done for our country,’’ said the wife of President Obama. “We want you to know this country has your back.’’
Except when it comes time for disability payments and health care, or even your paycheck because of the "debt crisis."
The visit was part of their Joining Forces initiative, designed to support the families of those who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces....
Not that they are being adequately supported, but you SEE WHO is being LEFT OUT ALL the TIME, AVERAGE U.S. CITIZEN?
You are NOT an IMPORTANT PERSON at all and YOUR CONCERNS are NOT TO BE HEARD -- except when it concerns the EMPIRE GOING INTO YOUR WALLET!
Mrs. Biden, whose son Beau Biden is a captain in the Delaware Army National Guard, said it was important for all Americans to understand the sacrifices military families make to support their loved ones in the services.
Excuse me, ma'am, but I DIDN'T SEND THEM THERE over STINK-HOLE LIES, and I HAVE NOT KEPT THEM THERE over SAME, so SHUT THE F*** UP!!!!!!!!!
She announced a Joining Forces Community Challenge, and invited those attending to nominate for special recognition any group or individual making a difference in the lives of military families. “We’ve seen some incredible examples of Americans helping out with child care for military families, lending a hand with accounting during tax season, and hosting baby showers for expectant military moms, and we want to formally applaud these efforts,’’ she said.
Yeah, let's all give THREE CHEERS for EMPIRE, yaaaaaaay!!!
Let's HOPE the BABY does not have BIRTH DEFECTS because of the DEPLETED URANIUM MUNITIONS and EQUIPMENT used by U.S. military forces. You can GO ASK the IRAQIS, AFGHANS, PAKISTANIS, PALESTINIANS, LEBANESE, and SERBS about that.
Biden spent the first half of the day at an event in Portsmouth called Operation Thank You, which raised money for a fund that helps military families in need....
Why would military families be in need considering the billions upon millions fed to the war machine?
And THOSE IN NEED will now be facing SOCIAL SERVICE CUTS as the GOVERNMENT BORROWS MORE MONEY?
My way of THANKING THEM would be to GET THEM HOME to TAKE CARE of THEM FIRST, and ENDING ALL THESE WARS for EMPIRE based on LIES !
But what do I know? I'm just a conscientious citizen trying to make his way in the world.

I'm beginning to understand what mid-1940s Germany must have felt like. All this military pomp and circumstance as the wars collapse around us.
Time to light a fire:
"N.H. tightens its ban on out-of-state firewood; Rules aim to keep out invasive bugs" July 16, 2011|Associated Press
DURHAM, N.H. - New Hampshire is strengthening a ban on out-of-state firewood because of concern about nonnative invasive insects.
Your first interaction is a search of the vehicle?
Two years ago, a joint state-federal regulation restricted firewood movement on state reservation lands and national forests within New Hampshire, including campgrounds.
Beginning Monday, the new ban will expand those restrictions to prohibit out-of-state firewood movement to all lands in New Hampshire. Only approved heat-treated firewood that has been properly packaged and labeled or firewood transported with a compliance agreement from select counties in Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts may enter the state.
Preapproved counties in Maine are Franklin, Oxford, Androscoggin, Cumberland, and York. All counties in Vermont are approved. In Massachusetts, Essex, Middlesex and Franklin counties are approved.
I suppose I should say hello.
Forest officials have been concerned about importing insects such as the emerald ash borer and the Asian long-horned beetle, which have harmed trees in other states. In some cases, infestations have been attributed to the movement of camp firewood.
More than half of all forests in New Hampshire are susceptible to the insects.
“It’s surprising how much and how far people are willing to transport firewood,’’ said Kyle Lombard, New Hampshire forest entomologist. “We surveyed firewood use at campgrounds and found that 40 percent of the out-of-state campers brought it from home. Many of those folks were from as far away as Florida, North Carolina, and California. We have seen that every stick of firewood taken from these campers had insects, to the tune of about 30 per piece.’’
Violators could be fined.
Welcome to New Hampshire!

Now come on and give the Granite state a tour! Climb a mountain!
"For the next three to four weeks, the steepest quarter-mile of the Tuckerman Ravine Trail on Mount Washington will be a high-country construction site while a four-man crew from the Appalachian Mountain Club restores a ribbon of trail that is slowly eroding....
I quit.

"Lynch directs NH agencies to prepare for layoffs" by Norma Love Associated Press / July 15, 2011
CONCORD, N.H.—New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch directed state agency heads Friday to develop contingency plans to lay off potentially hundreds of state workers if negotiations with their union fail to produce $50 million in savings....
The layoffs would be in addition to an as-yet unknown total number of layoffs from budget cuts....
But TOURISM got a BOOST!
Yeah, the illiterate and uneducated really make a great impression.
