MSM Monitor Mulling a Run For Massachusetts Senate Seat

Hey, no one else wants the job!

Of course, I'd be running in the Republican primary:

"GOP is finding few takers for Mass. Senate race" by Frank Phillips  |  Globe Staff, February 05, 2013

The only Republican who has openly acknowledged interest in the seat is Gabriel E. Gomez, a 47-year old son of Colombian immigrants, a Cohasset venture capitalist, [and] former Navy SEAL fighter pilot [with a] compelling life story whose only electoral experience is a failed bid for town selectman, who has been quietly moving around party leadership circles in recent weeks telling GOP movers and shakers he is serious....

Todd Domke, a Republican political consultant, said, “It’s good to have new blood and potentially new stars in the GOP firmament,’’ he said. “Nationally the party suffered from constantly having a Bush or Nixon on the ticket for five straight decades.’’

Anybody tell him this is a Senate race and it's the 21st century?

Yeah, they are still around. Nixon is long gone.

*****************************

But his support of Obama in 2008 and his donations to other Democrats, including $1,000 to liberal Alan Khazei for the US Senate in 2009, could hurt him in a GOP primary fight....

He won't be getting through it if he's opposed.

His involvement with a conservative political action committee last year that was sharply critical of Obama’s treatment of the military could also prove embarrassing. The group, OPSEC, argued that Obama was politicizing sensitive national security information after the killing of Osama bin Laden.

He was, but all presidents do that.

The group aired an attack ad that featured a former SEAL, Ben Smith, an outspoken critic of Obama, who has said the president is a socialist who was not born in America. Others associated with OPSEC also held similar opinions.

Gomez did not return a call Monday seeking comment about his candidacy.

Meanwhile, another controversial figure from recent GOP races, Jack E. Robinson, took out nomination papers to run for the Senate as an independent....

We could use him now.

Meanwhile, on the Democrap side:

"Rep. Stephen Lynch changes tone on abortion rights" by Michael Levenson  |  Globe Staff, February 05, 2013

US Representative Stephen F. Lynch said he is frustrated that abortion has become a “bumper-sticker issue,” and said he would block Supreme Court nominees who want to overturn Roe v. Wade....

Flip.

Last Thursday, on his first day on the campaign trail, Lynch said he would vote for nominees who oppose legalized abortion....

Flop.

The congressman said Monday that he misheard the question from a Globe reporter....

The fizzle you just heard was his campaign.

I think I've got a good chance if I can get through the primary.
