MSM Monitor Banned In Malaysia

Good thing I changed the name.

"Malaysia court rules non-Muslims can’t use ‘Allah’" Associated Press, October 15, 2013

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — A Malaysian appeals court on Monday upheld a government ban against the use of the word ‘‘Allah’’ to refer to God in non-Muslim faiths, overruling claims by Christians in this Muslim-majority nation that the restriction violates their religious rights.

‘‘Allah’’ is the Arabic word for God and is commonly used in the Malay language to refer to God. But the Malaysian government insists that ‘‘Allah’’ should be exclusively reserved for Muslims because of concerns its use by others would confuse Muslims and could be used to convert them.

Malaysia’s Christian, Buddhist, and Hindu minorities have often complained that the government infringes on their constitutional right to practice religion freely, accusations the government denies....

The dispute stems from efforts by the newspaper of the Roman Catholic Church in Malaysia to use ‘‘Allah’’ in its Malay-language weekly publication....

Damn Catholics always stirring up trouble! Oh, wait, I am (nominally) Catholic.

I've used the word. I couldn't hack it as a Muslim with all that piety and abstinence but out of respect I have used the word because it seems to lack a lot of the really creepy things that go along with western religions.

"Malaysian officers freed in killing" Associated Press, August 24, 2013

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — An appeals court ordered two police officers freed Friday after overturning their murder convictions in the killing of a Mongolian woman who had an affair with the prime minister’s friend.

The verdict revived claims of a political conspiracy surrounding the case that the opposition has repeatedly sought to link to Prime Minister Najib Razak. However, the allegations are unlikely to have any immediate impact on the government, which has not been directly implicated in the killing.

That's another reason they wouldn't want me.

The officers were the only suspects found guilty of shooting Altantuya Shaariibuu and blowing up her body with military explosives in 2006.

And calling her a suicide bomber?

I don't get a lot about Malaysia in my Globe and I'm not going to search for the last and latest right now, sorry.
