"Taunton man arrested in South Station restroom" by Catalina Gaitan | Globe correspondent May 27, 2014
A Taunton man is facing charges after he allegedly dropped several syringes intended for illegal drug use inside a restroom stall at South Station Monday afternoon, according to Transit Police.
Austin Ferriera, 24, was arrested when police discovered he had an outstanding arrest warrant from Boston Municipal Court on charges of possession of burglarious tools and receiving stolen property.
Transit Police have noted an increase in people using the commuter rail station men’s bathroom for illegal drug use, and officers were conducting a search of the room at 4:30 p.m.
While walking through, officers saw several syringes clatter to the floor in one of the bathroom stalls.
The police officers knocked on the stall door and asked that the occupant, later identified as Ferriera, to step out.
Though he had no drugs in his possession, Ferriera admitted that the syringes were intended for drug use, according to police.
