Israel's Ground Assault in Gaza Continues

I did a double-take when I say it in my printed paper and leaked tears. The look of fear and terror. Better stop waving kids in our faces, Barb.

Btw, this has gone beyond being about Israel being Jewish. They could worship Nagumo, the God of Inner Ear Wax for all I care. It is the behavior of one group of people, a certain select few even within their own exclusive tribe, towards their neighbor. Even if the propaganda is accepted as face value it's all disproportionate in its response.

Just wanted to clear that up before the inevitable anti-Semite stuff starts flying.

You know, that little girl was a Semite.

"US presses for truce as fighting rages in Gaza; Death toll rises to 34 Israelis, 702 Palestinians" by Ibrahim Barzak and Tia Goldenberg | Associated Press   July 24, 2014

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Secretary of State John Kerry, engaged in a whirlwind diplomatic tour Wednesday in Israel, said there were signs of progress in cease-fire talks, but prospects for a quick end to the fighting were dim as Palestinian families fled fierce battles in southern Gaza and the death toll rose to more than 700 Palestinians and 34 Israelis.

The ratio is now down to 20-to-1. That means the Palestinians are winning the street fights!

Underscoring the challenges facing international negotiators shuttling around the Middle East in a high-profile bid to end the bloodshed, the leader of Hamas insisted the militants would not relent until their main demand of lifting an Egyptian-Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip is met.

I can't really say I blame them. They have to come out of this with something. That Palestinian blood can not have been shed in vain.

On the ground, meanwhile, Israeli troops backed by tanks and aerial drones clashed with Hamas fighters armed with rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles on the outskirts of Khan Younis, killing at least eight militants, according to a Palestinian health official.

Yeah, the story may have shifted to page A6 of my paper but the "war" goes on.

Hundreds of people fled their homes as the battle unfolded, flooding into the streets with what few belongings they could carry, many with children in tow. They said they were seeking shelter in nearby UN schools.

Except the blogosphere has informed that the U.N. is screaming they can't handle the influx! Nowhere to be found in my Zionist War Daily we call a newspaper 'roun' h're.

***************

While Kerry has emphasized that his immediate goal is to obtain a cease-fire, he also has said that he hopes to lay the groundwork for a “sustainable process going forward” following an end to the fighting. That seemed to be a way to assure the Palestinians in Gaza that the United States was prepared to address some of their long-term economic and political grievances and to acknowledge Netanyahu’s argument that a way needs to be found to demilitarize Gaza.

But....

Yeah, that first idea is great, but that second one is idiotic. Disarm so Israel can have no resistance at all? Why don't they disarm? Why doesn't the U.S. disarm them by cutting off weapons transfers? Why aren't the NATO powers confronting Israel militarily?

Israel has insisted it must substantially curb the military capabilities of the militant group that controls Gaza — a position that appears to have gained support within the US administration — while Hamas has demanded the lifting of a crippling Israeli and Egyptian blockade on the impoverished coastal territory it has ruled since 2007.

As usual, all the fluff above was nothing but sweet-smelling shit.

Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said in a televised speech that the opening of the border crossings was a red line.

Don't start acting like Obummer!

‘‘When it comes to the balance of power in this crisis between us and Israel, they are the executioners, the aggressors, the occupiers, the settlers, and we are the true owners of the land,’’ he said from his home-in-exile in Doha, Qatar.

That is true.

Israel launched a massive air campaign on July 8 to stop Hamas rocket fire into Israel and expanded it last week to a ground war aimed at destroying tunnels the military says Hamas has constructed from Gaza into Israel for attacks against Israelis.

My next post will be focusing on the air campaign.

At least 74 Palestinians were killed on Wednesday and early Thursday, raising the overall death toll in the 16-day war to 702, according to Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Kidra.

Israel said five more of its soldiers were killed, bringing the military’s death toll to 32. Two Israeli civilians also have died, and a Thai worker in Israel was killed when a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed near the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon on Wednesday, police spokeswoman Luba Samri said.

Just so you know I'm not ignoring that side.

The UN’s top human rights official demanded Wednesday that all sides refrain from indiscriminate attacks on civilians, warning that violations may amount to war crimes.

The warning by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay came at a special meeting of the UN’s top human rights body, which voted 29-1 to authorize an international commission of inquiry to investigate all alleged abuses since mid-June in the Gaza Strip. Only the United States voted against the resolution championed by Arab nations. Another 17 of the Human Rights Council’s 47 member-states abstained.

Yeah, I did think that was important for you to see.

Israel said the council’s decision to investigate Israel’s role in the conflict sent a message to extremist groups around the world that using human shields — which it accuses Hamas of doing — was an ‘‘effective strategy.’’

If you only knew, Amurkn.

They also use Palestinians as shields when conducting house raids.

Because Hamas rockets have landed near the international airport in Tel Aviv, the FAA extended its ban Wednesday on US flights to the city. However, the agency lifted the ban late Wednesday.

The printed article called on Bloomberg to prove it is safe to fly to Israel, as that piece of false flag propaganda completely backfired on Israel. Endlessly grinding that woe is me victimhood, we are under threat card is getting tuned out old, never mind the incestuous and elite agenda-pushers that populate my paper.

The meeting ended with Kerry and a grim-faced Netanyahu handshake at the headquarters of the Israel Defense Forces in Tel Aviv before Kerry flew back to Cairo.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 victims’ remains arrive in Netherlands

All this ceremony makes me suspicious.

"Inna Tipunova, whose kitchen was destroyed last week after the body fell into it, blamed the Ukrainian government for the downing of the jet, and for a war that is increasingly claiming lives on both sides, including civilians trapped in the middle."

That's weird because the photos I saw were of bodies right next to the crashed plane in a small debris field, although some are saying a Ukrainian fighter jet that was tailing the passenger plane shot it down due to the lack of a visible missile trail from the surface.

Interesting coinkydink here?

"Ukraine fighters shot down near Russia border" New York Times   July 24, 2014

SNIZHNE, Ukraine — Two Ukrainian Su-25 fighter jets were shot down Wednesday in eastern Ukraine near the Russian border. The planes were downed in an area of heavy fighting between government forces and Russian-backed separatists, near where a Malaysia Airlines jet was blown out of the sky July 17, killing 298 people and drawing international dismay.

The Ukrainian government said the two fighter jets had been brought down near the village of Dmytrivka, east of Donetsk and about 5 miles from the Russian border, where government troops have been pushing hard to cut off the flow of fighters and supplies from Russia to the insurgents.

The government said the pilots of the fighter jets ejected safely.

Government forces and insurgents appeared to be racing Wednesday to find them.

Andriy Lysenko, a spokesman for the Ukrainian National Defense and Security Council, said the two jets had been hit by fire from the Russian side of the border.

“The planes were shot down from Russian territory,” Lysenko said in a statement on Twitter.

The allegation, which could not be independently verified, carries potentially serious diplomatic consequences, given the accusations by Ukraine and the United States that Russia supplied insurgents with the SA-11 surface-to-air missile system that brought down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17.

The Russian government did not immediately comment on the downed fighter planes. But a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a forceful statement Wednesday accusing the Ukrainian government of making false accusations against Russia, specifically in relation to the downed passenger jet.

Whatever will start a war.

What SHAMELESS PROPAGANDA from a newspaper that blared IRAQI WMD headlines on its front pages!

I'm sure they are scrambling in the newsroom wondering what lie will they believe! What shovelful of shit will get the American public back on the war bandwagon, rah-rah.

"Taiwanese plane crashes in storm, killing 47 people" by Ralph Jennings | Associated Press   July 24, 2014

TAIPEI — A plane attempting to land in stormy weather crashed on a small Taiwanese island late Wednesday, killing 47 people and destroying houses and cars on the ground.

The ATR-72 operated by Taiwan’s TransAsia Airways was carrying 58 passengers and crew when it crashed on Penghu in the Taiwan Strait between Taiwan and China, authorities said. The plane was arriving from the city of Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan.

Two people aboard the plane were French citizens and the rest were Taiwanese, Transport Minister Yeh Kuang-shih told reporters. The twin-engine turboprop crashed making a second landing attempt, Yeh said.

The crash of flight GE222 was Taiwan’s first fatal air accident in 12 years and came after Typhoon Matmo passed across the island, causing heavy rains that continued into Wednesday night. Some 200 airline flights had been canceled earlier in the day because of rain and strong winds.

Other problems right now.

The official death toll was 47, according to Wen Chia-hung, spokesman for the Penghu disaster response center. He said the other 11 people were injured.

Authorities were looking for one person who might have been in a house that was struck by wreckage, Wen said. A car was crushed by a toppled wall but Wen said no one was in it.

President Ma Ying-jeou called it ‘‘a very sad day in the history of Taiwanese aviation,’’ according to a spokesman for his office, Ma Wei-kuo, the government’s Central News Agency reported.

The plane came down in the village of Xixi outside the airport. Television stations showed rescue workers pulling bodies from wreckage. Photos in local media showed firefighters using flashlights to look through the wreckage, and buildings damaged by debris.

Penghu, a scenic chain of 64 islets, is a popular tourist site about 90 miles southwest of the Taiwanese capital, Taipei.

About 200 military personnel were sent to help recover the people who were on the plane, Taiwanese Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Luo Shou-he said, according to the news agency.

Visibility as the plane approached was one mile, which met standards for landing, and two flights had landed before GE222.

"Teen pilot seeking record dies in crash" Associated Press   July 24, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indiana teenager who was attempting to set a record for an around-the-world flight was killed when his plane crashed in the Pacific Ocean, and crews were searching Wednesday for his father, who was also onboard.

Family spokeswoman Annie Hayat said the plane flown by 17-year-old Haris Suleman went down shortly after leaving Pago Pago in American Samoa Tuesday night. Hayat said the teen’s body had been recovered, but crews were still looking for Babar Suleman.

The teen’s sister, Hiba, said the trip had been a dream of her father’s for years and that her brother was also excited. Haris Suleman had recently obtained his pilot’s license and instrument rating, which authorized him to fly an aircraft over oceans, and planned to be the pilot in command except in an emergency.

Hiba Suleman said her father and brother had undergone training in how to handle an ocean landing and wore protective suits while flying over water.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor in Los Angeles said the single-engine Hawker Beechcraft plane crashed into the ocean under unknown circumstances.

A Coast Guard spokeswoman, Petty Officer Melissa McKenzie, said that witnesses reported seeing the plane crash shortly after taking off from Pago Pago International Airport.

The Sulemans left home June 19 in hopes of making the trip in 30 days to set the record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe in a single-engine airplane with the youngest pilot in command to do so.

They missed the 30-day timetable but planned to return home Sunday.
