Slow Saturday Special: Nothing But New York Times Propaganda

I'll give you one guess where.

Literally, today, and it has me up in arms.

"US says Russia steps up role as Ukraine forces advance" by David M. Herszenhorn | New York Times   July 26, 2014

KIEV — Russia has stepped up its direct involvement in fighting between the Ukrainian military and separatist insurgents, unleashing artillery attacks from Russian territory and massing heavy weapons along the border, Ukrainian and US officials say.

Sounds like an outright lie to me.

Russia’s aim, the officials say, appeared to be to stem and perhaps roll back gains made by government forces, who have been retaking rebel-held territory and trying to seal the border. They say Russia’s accelerated intervention raises the prospect of more direct and more heated fighting between Ukraine and Russia.

US officials, citing military intelligence, including satellite images, warned that Russia appeared to be preparing to arm the rebels with more high-powered weaponry than it has previously supplied, including tanks, armored vehicles, and powerful Tornado multiple rocket launchers.

Among the gains of the Ukrainian forces, after days of intense fighting, was the recapture of Lysychansk. The city had been a rebel stronghold, posing a strategic obstacle to government troops pressing through the Luhansk region from the north and west.

The Ukrainian military called in air support as its ground troops struggled to expel insurgents from the city of more than 100,000 people, on the right bank of the Seversky Donets River.

At this point the self-contradictions in the same articles are really.....

I suppose you can't blame them for being nostalgic for the good old days. They lost me long ago; now they are losing the world.

The reports of increased hostilities suggest that, rather than scale back its military intervention in Ukraine after the Malaysia Airlines jet was shot down by a missile that the United States and Ukraine say came from Russia, Moscow is instead devoting even more firepower to the pro-Russian separatists’ cause, in the face of international condemnation and toughened US sanctions.

A NATO military officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the comments were about sensitive intelligence matters, said by telephone, “The United States has shared intelligence information with NATO today regarding strikes that are occurring from within Russian territory, firing into Ukraine territory.”

So? Grain of salt.

In Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, a military spokesman said Friday that Ukrainian troops were coming under increased fire from the Russian side of the border, and that the Ukrainian military had recently shot down three Russian surveillance drones.

NO BIG DEAL THERE, huh?

Imagine if -- not that they would, in fact, the most likely to not, no motive -- Russia had done that to Ukraine drones. The uproar that would have been in my war paper; as it is, it is a nonchalant comment in an obscure article on a Slow Saturday.

*****************

The military spokesman, Andriy Lysenko, said Ukrainian forces were engaged in particularly heavy fighting near a border crossing at Chervona Zorya, not far from where two Ukrainian fighter jets were downed Wednesday in what Ukrainian officials said was a missile attack from the Russian side of the border.

Again, there would be way more outrage in my pre$$! This is all literally throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks, and it's sad to see in what used to once be a decent news organization.

*************

Lysenko said some Russian soldiers had surrendered to Ukrainian forces. “We have information about weapons and mercenaries, who have respective skills for warfare, who have been passing over from the territory of Russian Federation,” he said.

(Blog editor is sticking tongue in cheek as he shakes head. The scale of the s***-shoveling is obscenely immense and nearly incomprehensible)

Russia has repeatedly denied that its forces are involved in the fighting in eastern Ukraine and that it is supplying rebels with weapons and other equipment, despite a substantial body of evidence collected by Ukraine and its allies.

(See above comment)

Ukraine and the United States have also said the missile that destroyed Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was fired from rebel territory using a system supplied by Russia.

Ukraine forces had them, too?

Ukrainian officials say their forces in recent days have recaptured at least 10 towns, shrinking the amount of territory under rebel control in the embattled regions of Luhansk and Donetsk and gaining substantial advantage, including over some of the main highways in the region.

Officials have said they believe that they could defeat the rebels within three weeks if there is no further intervention by Russia, either in the form of new vehicles and weapons or — less likely — a direct invasion by Russian forces.

While Ukraine has long complained about the flow of weapons, tanks, and volunteer fighters across the Russian border, the allegations of direct Russian intervention have grown far more serious in the last two weeks.

I lived through this shit 40 f***ing years and they were lies then!

On July 14, a Ukrainian military transport plane was shot down by what Ukrainian officials said was a powerful missile fired from the Russian side of the border.

Well, it is a WAR, right?!!

The next day, officials said, a Russian plane bombed an apartment building in the town of Snizhne, killing 11 people, and the day after that, a Russian MiG-29 crossed into Ukrainian airspace and engaged two Ukrainian Su-25 fighter jets in a dogfight before shooting one down. The Malaysia Airlines jetliner, with 298 people aboard, was shot down the next afternoon.

Really rolling that propaganda day after day after day.

When will you agree with bloodthirsty enthusiasm to allow the U.S. government to go to war against Russia? Please, please, please let us make war on Russia.

What do you need?!!

Chemical weapons attack (nope, bombed out in Syria, iraq lies)?

Nuclear bomb in Chicago (heeeeey, you may be on to something there; terrorists from Syria and Iran can smuggle in a Russian nuclear bomb and boom, a fearsome false flag that will mean the end of history)?

A senior US official said last week that Russia had about 13,000 troops and more than half a dozen combined arms battalions near the border.

Do you know what in one ear, out the other means?

On Thursday, another US official said that more units were headed to the border area, and that it remained to be seen whether they were being sent to reinforce the Russian forces or replace some of the troops there.

Apply same axiom.

Not much on the plane tragedy, and nothing on the dissolution of the Ukrainian Parliament.

US debates giving Kiev data on missile sites tied to Russia

The [Malaysian plane] disaster sparked hopes in the West that Russia would scale back its involvement in the uprising in Ukraine’s east, but nine days later the opposite seems to be the case.

Everything they put their hand to these days goes kerflooey.

"French troops reach crash site of Algerian plane; Cause was likely bad weather, officials confirm" by Nicola Clark | New York Times   July 26, 2014

:-(

PARIS — As a detachment of French soldiers reached the crash site of an Air Algérie jetliner in Mali, officials in Paris said Friday that the accident was most likely weather-related and that the distribution of the wreckage over a limited area suggested that the plane probably hit the ground intact.

Flight 93, Shanksville, hole in ground.

“We rule out — and have from the start — any ground strike,” Frédéric Cuvillier, the French junior minister for transport, told France 2 television Friday. President François Hollande said a data recorder, or “black box,” had been found at the crash site and confirmed that there were no survivors.

Speaking to reporters Friday, Hollande said the number of people who died in the crash was 118, two more than the government and airline officials said Thursday.

Laurent Fabius, the French foreign minister, said verification of the passenger manifest overnight had confirmed there had been 112 passengers and six crew members on board. The number of French victims was also revised upward, to 54 from 51, including several dual-nationals, Fabius said.

Hollande said he spoke by phone Friday with Mali’s president, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, and offered France’s full cooperation with the investigation as well as the repatriation of the victims’ bodies.

Following international rules, Mali will lead the investigation into the cause of the accident. But Fabius said that experts from the French Bureau of Investigation and Analysis were expected to arrive in Mali on Saturday and would assume a significant role in the inquiry.

The French version of the FBI moving in to COVER THINGS UP!!

The wreckage of Flight 5017 was found by an international search team just before nightfall Thursday in an isolated area, about 60 miles south of the town of Gao in eastern Mali. Soldiers from Burkina Faso, said they’d found several bodies among the burned-out hull of the plane, a Boeing MD-83.

“We think the aircraft crashed for reasons linked to the weather conditions,” French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said in an interview on the French radio station RTL.

General Gilbert Diendéré, chief of the Burkina Faso general staff, said on local TV that troops discovered the remains of the plane “totally burned out and scattered on the ground.”

Video taken at the crash site by soldiers from Burkina Faso, and broadcast on French television Friday, showed the plane’s charred, fragmentary remains scattered over a broad swath of blackened and muddy terrain.

It was a field in Pennsylvania, so WTF?

Let's roll?

Ummm, no offense, guys, and I really don't want to get into it but that looks like AWFUL LITTLE WRECKAGE for a JET CARRYING 118 PEOPLE!!

SIGH!!!!

UPDATE: Air Algerie AH5017 Shot-Down?

NEXT DAY UPDATE:

"Hollande seeking remains of jet crash

PARIS — President Francois Hollande said Saturday he wants the remains of all passengers on the Air Algerie plane that crashed in northern Mali to be brought to France. UN peacekeepers found a second black box at the remote crash site. Fifty-four of the 118 victims were French. Bad weather is a leading theory of the cause of Thursday’s crash."

Was it a sandstorm or not, because if so they should have gotten above that. Another plane crash story that stinks.
