Slow Saturday Special: Dispensing With This Post

I'm going to pass on this post, sorry:

"State approves Boston’s first medical marijuana dispensary" by Shelley Murphy and Kay Lazar | Globe Staff   November 07, 2014

State health officials on Friday approved a highly coveted license for Boston’s first medical marijuana dispensary, selecting Patriot Care Corp. to operate a facility near Downtown Crossing.

The company, which was already provisionally approved to open a dispensary in Lowell, also won permission Friday for a location in Greenfield, making it the only company positioned to run three dispensaries in Massachusetts.

Oh, no.

Let's get a question rejecting it for the next election.

In addition, state officials said they would allow another company to move forward with plans to open dispensaries in Brookline and Northampton — a decision that drew sharp criticism from some critics who allege the company has received special treatment.

The Patrick administration put the plans of the company, New England Treatment Access, on hold in August after the Globe reported that its chief executive had falsely claimed to be a college graduate on the firm’s applications to the state.

The licensing process has been slowed by repeated disclosures, from media and competing applicants, about questionable backgrounds of some company officials and misrepresentations. No dispensaries have opened, despite state officials’ initial prediction they would open by this past summer.

They were supposed to be up and running within a year; however, the state that didn't want them and was unhappy about us voting them in has been dragging their heels ever since.

On Friday, Karen van Unen, chief executive of the state’s medical marijuana program, said in a news release, “I am pleased with the steady progress we are making and expect the first dispensaries to open later this winter.”

BUTT.... !!!!

You can sift through the rest of you can take the grind.

"Woman allegedly delivered heroin to patient in Plymouth hospital" by Trisha Thadani | Globe Correspondent   November 05, 2014

A woman was arrested Saturday on charges of delivering heroin to a patient in a Plymouth hospital.

Kayla Papasodero, 21, of Plymouth, was visiting a male patient at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth when she allegedly gave him a small amount of heroin, Police Captain John Rogers said.

The exchange was observed by security personnel, and Papasodero was arrested, Rogers said.

Rogers said Papasodero has been charged with possession of a Class A substance, distribution of a Class A substance, and conspiracy to violate controlled substance laws.

The patient, whose identity was not immediately available, will be charged when he is released from the hospital, with possession of a Class A substance and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.

Rogers would not elaborate on why the patient was in the hospital or his relationship with Papasodero.

Rogers said this is the first time he has heard of such a thing happening between a patient and a visitor at the hospital.

"Springfield woman stopped with 1,000 bags of heroin in car" by Trisha Thadani | Globe Correspondent   November 05, 2014

A Springfield woman who was driving with a small baby was arrested in Greenfield on drug trafficking charges after police found 1,000 small bags of heroin in her car, State Police said.

You see why I don't want pot here.

Nia Moore-Bush, 26, was stopped on Interstate 91 North for a motor vehicle violation, State Police said in a posting on their blog. Police found 1,000 bags of suspected heroin — weighing about 320 grams — and a nearly 2-month-old infant as a passenger. Moore-Bush was also found to be unlicensed, police said.

(Blog editor shaking his head)

Moore-Bush was placed under arrest and was charged with trafficking heroin, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding. The infant was placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.

Moore-Bush was transported to the Franklin County House of Correction, pending her Wednesday morning arraignment in Greenfield District Court.

Of course, the heroin crisis has faded because people are no longer dying. The problem never goes away because it is government intelligence agencies that do most of the drug-running for money-laundering banks kept afloat by drug cash.

Oh, yeah, another vice problem worse than medical pot, but.... what was my point again (cough)?

NEXT DAY UPDATE:

Think of it as a roach hit:

"Marijuana is by far the most seized drug in the United States, with DEA statistics showing nearly 600,000 pounds seized in 2013. That compares with about 50,000 pounds of cocaine, 9,000 pounds of meth and 2,100 pounds of heroin."
