Who Was Behind the West Warwick Boom?

"Boom reported by Rhode Island residents defies explanation

The source of a thunderous boom that was heard in West Warwick and elsewhere in Rhode Island remains a mystery. WJAR-TV reported that the boom on Sunday evening was loudest in West Warwick but Coventry and Warwick residents also reported hearing it. National Grid said no transformers had blown, the station said. The Rhode Island National Guard said it was not doing anything in the air. The Weston Observatory in Massachusetts ruled out any seismic activity in Rhode Island on Sunday night. Local police departments, which fielded calls about the boom, said they found no explanation for it. One resident reported seeing a bright yellow and orange light just before the sound."
