Think of it as the 2015 version of A Christmas Carol:

"The New York Times and its primary union said on Tuesday that the paper was laying off at least 21 employees because it had not received enough voluntary buyouts to cover newsroom budget cuts. The newspaper accepted buyout applications from 57 members of the Newspaper Guild of New York, the union said in an email, and from nearly 30 nonunion employees. Despite a stated target of 100, the union said, The Times “told the guild on Monday that it would lay off another 21 guild-represented employees this week.” Though the precise number of staff members who will lose their jobs was not yet clear, the guild said, “the company clearly will exceed its stated goal of 100 job cuts.”
It's “a painful period for the newsroom.” Poor Scrooge.
Maybe it's all the war lies, NYT? Ever think of that?
I'm sure there are more newspaper woes, and if I come across them before midnight I'll post.
Well, maybe not -- especially since my favorite Christmas Carol -- is on this Christmas Eve, although I must say I'm seeing so many things in a different light these days.
