"Obama presses for remaining $350b; President-elect says he will veto denial of funding" by Associated Press | January 14, 2009
WASHINGTON - Tested before taking power, President-elect Barack Obama appealed to Democrats in Congress yesterday to allow the use of an additional $350 billion in federal bailout funds and vowed to veto any move to block the money.
Yeah, we only have one president at a time; so why is this "president-elect" speaking out so forcefully? I guess he doesn't give a shit about foreign affairs and Israel's sabotaging of his presidency, huh?
And think about how backward this is: Congress has to BLOCK -- not APPROVE, as we were led to believe three months ago -- access to the second half of the loot, which Obama can veto and still get the money. So basically, the original agreement GAVE THE WHOLE $700 BILLION AWAY ALREADY, folks. So all this MSM coverage on the second half of the bailout is all a shit-swiller fooley!!!
Obama backed up his plea with a promise to revise elements of the bailout program that have drawn widespread criticism, pledging billions will go to help homeowners facing foreclosure.
Promises, promises. I'll believe it when I see it.
Several Democrats said his commitments, to be made in writing, would be enough to prevent an embarrassing preinauguration rejection for the president-elect when the Senate votes this week.
"This will be the first vote that President-elect Obama is asking us for. I'll be shocked and I'll be really disappointed if he doesn't get it," said Senator Joseph Lieberman, an independent from Connecticut.
Well then, it must be a DONE DEAL if Zio Joe says so!!!!
Behind closed doors, Obama also urged lawmakers to act quickly on the massive economic stimulus measure his aides have been negotiating with congressional officials. The legislation will blend federal spending with tax cuts, and could reach $1 trillion in size, a measure of the nation's economic woes.
But he WON'T CALL for ISREAL to HEEL!!! One president at a time! Guy is starting off by LYING? That's how you are going to start the whole thing off, 'bamer?
Democratic leaders in the House and Senate hope to have the legislation ready by mid-February.
Nice how YOU have had to WAIT so LONG, for RELIEF and HELP from YOUR GOVERNMENT, 'eh, Amurkns? And you are STILL WAITING!
Despite its size, the stimulus bill is not expected to face heavy opposition from Democrats, and Obama has won praise from Republicans for willingness to show deference to their concerns.
Well, that's all great since I'm a Republican (barely, but I am registered); however, the lefty-liberal set must be steamed!
Actually, so am I because I am ANTIWAR to the CORE -- like a GOOD CONSERVATIVE ought to be!!!
