Mitchell Misses His Mark

It is who he DID NOT and WON'T meet, folks!

"Stronger Gaza truce is key, says Mitchell; Violence flares amid Mideast trip" by Lee Keath, Associated Press | January 29, 2009

JERUSALEM - President Barack Obama's new Mideast envoy promised a vigorous push for Israeli-Palestinian peace, saying yesterday that Gaza militants must end weapons smuggling and the territory's blockaded borders must be opened if the cease-fire is to last.

You know, where are the Iranian weapons?

George Mitchell held his first round of talks with regional leaders to determine the next steps the Obama administration would take toward reviving peace negotiations after Israel's blistering military offensive against Gaza's Hamas rulers.

But a flare-up of violence underscored the more immediate priority - shoring up the 10-day-old cease-fire. Hours before Mitchell arrived in Jerusalem, Israeli warplanes pounded Gazan smuggling tunnels in retaliation for a Palestinian bombing on Tuesday that killed an Israeli soldier....

What else is new?

And about that bombing: Gazan Summer Camp

I also noticed that the dead Israeli soldier was mentioned; however, no Palestinian deaths were mentioned in the Zionist piece of s***!

*****************

Mitchell.... was expected to hold talks with pro-Western Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank today. Mitchell has no plans to meet with Hamas, which the United States, Israel and European Union consider a terrorist group.

Not according to the Boston Globe:

"The lethal enmity between Al Qaeda.... and the Palestinian Hamas movement.... they denounce Hamas for participating in elections and other democratic practices and for failing to impose a strict form of Sharia in Gaza.... [they] also castigate Hamas for preventing non-Palestinian jihadists from going to Gaza to organize for holy war"

Oh, that explains why the Palestinians were able to spot them so easily!

If the Globe's editorial staff knows this, you wonder about the slanted and unchallenged descriptions issuing forth from their news pages, don't you?

It would be hard for the cease-fire to hold unless arrangements are made to stop the flow of arms to Hamas and to end the blockade of the coastal territory, which has deepened the deprivation of the 1.4 million Gazans trapped inside.

Yup, the first order of business is always what ISRAEL wants!

And notice how they skip over the war criminal siege and suffering of the Palestinians as if its no big deal?

Mitchell said crossings should be opened on the basis of a 2005 agreement brokered by the United States that put the main border - between Egypt and Gaza - under the management of Abbas's Palestinian Authority, with European monitors deployed to prevent smuggling.

So who is going to monitor the arms shipments to (and from) Israel?

Hamas, which routed Abbas loyalists when it took over Gaza, has said it also wants a role at the crossings in recognition of its power in Gaza.

Well, seeing as HAMAS is the LEGITIMATELY-ELECTED GOVERNMENT, they SHOULD HAVE a ROLE!!!!! But he Zionist MSM makes it seem like they are elbowing in and wanting a role as if they are unreasonable.
