"Lee saturates Miss., moves toward Ga." by Holbrook Mohr, Associated Press / September 6, 2011

JACKSON, Miss. - The slow-moving remnants of Tropical Storm Lee dumped a torrent of rain across the South yesterday and whipped up tornadoes as it pushed further inland....

In Mississippi, a man was swept away by floodwaters after trying to cross a swollen creek, authorities said, the first death caused by flooding or winds from Lee. The system was sweeping across Alabama and pushing into Georgia, where suspected tornadoes sent trees falling into homes and injured at least one person....

The storm was forecast to move up the Tennessee River Valley today, and forecasters have warned people to be on the lookout for tornadoes....

And here comes Katia!

Meanwhile, Hurricane Katia strengthened to a Category 3 hurricane in the open Atlantic....

Additional strengthening is expected today....

"Wildfire destroys nearly 500 homes in parched Texas" by Associated Press / September 6, 2011

BASTROP, Texas - A roaring wildfire raced unchecked through rain-starved farm and ranchland yesterday in Central Texas, destroying nearly 500 homes during a rapid advance fanned in part by howling winds from the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee....

The fire was the largest of the dozens burning in the drought-stricken state. It was consuming the water-starved woods and brush with such ferocity that it was deemed unsafe to fight from the ground, said a Texas Forest Service spokeswoman, Jan Amen.

Instead, the state deployed its firefighting air fleet, including National Guard helicopters and four heavy tanker planes. It also summoned a tanker from South Dakota....

How much of its Guard is in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Governor Rick Perry cut short a visit to South Carolina yesterday and canceled a trip to California in order to return to Texas to oversee the firefighting efforts, a spokesman said.

WTF is Nero doing out on the campaign trail as Texas burns?

(Btw, Nero also set the fire, one of the very first false flags)

And the worst is yet to come:

"N.D. flooding means higher price for pasta" September 03, 2011|Associated Press

PLAZA, N.D. - Consumers are paying more for pasta after heavy rain and flooding prevented planting on more than 1 million acres in one of the nation’s best durum wheat-growing areas....

In addition to the already-flooded out crops downstream and earlier.  Between that and the value of the dollar dropping, food prices are going to skyrocket soon (already are really).

In northwest North Dakota, fields normally flush with wheat are full of frogs. That, combined with a smaller-than-usual stockpile in the United States, has pushed up prices....
