Murder in Weymouth

"Horror visits quiet Weymouth street" by Brian R. Ballou and Maria Cramer Globe Staff / November 12, 2011

WEYMOUTH - In recent years, Donald Rudolph’s behavior had become more and more frightening, friends and neighbors said.

The teenager had broken into at least two other homes on Upland Road, where his mother and sister lived. A former New England Patriots player who worked with troubled children and took him in filed a restraining order against him after the 18-year-old punched him in the face and broke his jaw. Neighbors also suspected Rudolph had been killing cats.

The violence exploded Thursday night when authorities said Rudolph killed his mother, his older sister, and his mother’s boyfriend, Frederick Medina, 52. Police found the bodies inside the house after a neighbor, who had received frantic calls from Medina, called 911.

Police Chief Richard Grimes described the crime scene as “one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Gruesome.’’
