"Man opens fire at Pittsburgh psychiatric hospital" by Associated Press | March 09, 2012
PITTSBURGH - A gunman who opened fire after entering the lobby of a psychiatric hospital at the University of Pittsburgh on Thursday was armed with two semiautomatic handguns during a shooting that left two people, including the gunman, dead and several others wounded, the mayor said.
Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said the man exchanged gunfire with police and was shot dead Thursday but not before one other person was killed and seven others were hurt, apparently by his gunfire. One injured person was not hurt by gunfire.
The mayor stopped short of confirming the gunman was fatally shot by a University of Pittsburgh police officer. But he confirmed “police acted admirably and did engage in gunfire.’’

"Pa. man accused of abandoning baby" February 01, 2012
SHARON, Pa. - A western Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he left his girlfriend’s infant son at a hospital after claiming to find the child abandoned on a doorstep.
The Sharon Herald reported yesterday that Jason Casteel Sr., 33, faces a preliminary hearing on charges including concealing the baby’s whereabouts and interfering with the mother’s custody.
Officials at Sharon Regional Health System called police after Casteel allegedly dropped off the baby sometime after 1 a.m. Friday. Police went to Casteel’s home, where they found the baby’s mother, who told them the 5-month-old was vomiting before Casteel offered to take him to the hospital.
She said she believed that Casteel planned to bring the boy home.
Casteel, who is not the boy’s father, faces a preliminary hearing Friday.
