Police say a city man was killed in an exchange of gunfire with officers responding to a domestic disturbance call. Sergeant John Delaney said police responded to reports of shots fired at about 5:50 a.m. Wednesday. He said it started when a man fired a shotgun at his estranged girlfriend. She was unhurt. The man continued firing into the air, and then started shooting at officers arriving at the scene. Officers returned fire, striking the man. Police performed CPR but the man died at the hospital. Police identified him as 44-year-old Louis Squires."
