"Boston detective charged in Lynn prostitution sting" by Lauren Dezenski | Globe Correspondent, March 29, 2013
A Boston police detective has been put on paid administrative leave after he was arrested in a prostitution sting operation in Lynn, Boston police said.
I $uppo$e this is why prostitution isn't legal. With no crime what would cops do?
Lysander Wright, 48, of Lynn, also had his department-issued firearm taken away, police said.
Late Thursday night, Lynn detectives were conducting the sting at Union and Pinkham streets, an area “well known for vice crime including prostitution,” a Lynn police report said. Just before 12:15 a.m. on Friday, Wright allegedly approached a female undercover officer, who was posing as a prostitute, and offered $20 for oral sex.
When detectives approached Wright, the police report said, he stated, “If she said I offered her twenty dollars, she is lying.” He then added, “I’m on the job.”
Wright was arrested just before 12:45 a.m. on a charge of offering to pay for sex. The arresting officer, Christopher Hagerty, informed Wright that a known prostitute had recently alleged that a police officer had picked her up downtown and had driven her to a location off Chatham Street, where she performed a sex act on him. The officer then told her to get out of the car before he arrested her, the police report said.
Despite offering to pay $20 for the sex act on Friday, Wright only had $7 on his person at the time of his arrest, the police report noted.

Wright was one of 16 men arrested, Boston and Lynn police said.
He was arraigned Friday in Lynn District Court on a charge of paying for sexual conduct. A not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf, Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office said.
Wright was given a bail warning and released. He is due next in court on May 10.
A telephone message left at Wright’s home seeking comment was not immediately returned.
The sting, which took place from 8 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday, was aimed at arresting men as they solicited women for sex, Lynn police Lieutenant Stephen Haberek said. All the men arrested had solicited the female undercover officer, he said....
