"Dartmouth gift to grow programs abroad

Dartmouth College plans to expand its study abroad and other international education programs with a $10 million gift from an alumnus and former congressman. The gift from Frank J. Guarini, a former US representative and Democrat of New Jersey, will endow an institute for international education named after him. The college plans to expand its programs in underrepresented areas of the world; create experimental programs in response to changing global circumstances; and better integrate off-campus experiences with on-campus curriculum. Guarini, who graduated from Dartmouth in 1946, served in the US House for seven terms, as a delegate to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in London, and as a United Nations representative during the Clinton administration."
