WASHINGTON — President Obama announced Thursday that 8 million people have signed up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, including what White House officials said were a sufficient number of young, healthy adults, a critical milestone that might counter election-year attacks by Republicans on the law’s success and viability.

Usually it is a harmless story, but in this case it is the leader of the nation as a completely disingenuous disassembler. Either that, or he is delusional. Either one is not good.

The total number of enrollees exceeds by 1 million the target set by the administration for people to buy insurance through government-run health care exchanges. In particular, the number of young people signing up appears to have surged during the final weeks of enrollment.
Yup, it's all been a terrific success because this lying, pos administration says so!
“This thing is working,” Obama said in the White House briefing room, in what amounted to a second victory lap after he announced two weeks ago that 7.1 million people had signed up for insurance during an initial enrollment period. “The Affordable Care Act is covering more people at less cost than most people would have predicted a few months ago.”

Still, critics of the law cautioned that promising top-line numbers were not by themselves proof of success.

Although more young people signed up for insurance, for example, the number remained below the level that some analysts believe is optimal for keeping premiums low in the insurance marketplaces.
Meaning premiums are rising already despite what the chief liar and executive ordering dictator says.
The administration said 28 percent of those who bought policies were between the ages of 18 and 34, but some analysts said the optimum level would be 40 percent.
Oh, they know some information but not other things? WTF?
“In an ideal world, you’d want to get as close to that as possible,” said Larry Levitt, a senior vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation. “But what is important is what the insurance companies expected, and this is what they expected.”
I thought it was IMPORTANT that YOU KNOW who is REALLY IMPORTANT in all this, fellow citizens.
This thing has been for the in$urance companies all along. The bill was written by them, they were to profit (from the guy fighting inequality and $exi$m even as he keeps health rates higher for women) off what has been designed, they now claim they need a bailout (so much for what was expected), and the government went along because they were going to grab a bunch of taxes as a result -- all so they could wave the loot at bond-buyers.
But the administration did not release two other crucial statistics that would help determine the success of the law: the number of people who bought insurance for the first time and the number who made their initial premium payments.
The number of those who were previously uninsured is important, since many people could simply have been moved from plans that were canceled under the law.
I thought Obummer issued waivers there, but they must not have took. Insurers cancelled anyway.
Administration officials have promised to release that information when they have it, but they have said it is not data that is collected by the government.
Since when? They are COLLECTING EVERYTHING, through NSA, dammit!
You know, it really is the LYING that gets to you after a while. I think it's the DISRESPECT and INDIFFERENCE exhibited by the administration and mouthpiece media by thinking we are so stupid out here we will accept all garbage shoveled out day after day.

Illinois legislators advanced a plan Thursday to devote $100 million in state construction funds to bring the Obama presidential library and museum to Chicago. Lawmakers said the money was intended to sweeten a city bid, noting that Hawaii, where Obama was born, and New York, where he attended college, also are interested in housing the presidential records.
I hope its worth it to the unemployed and hungry of Chicago, the murder capital of the country.
A nonprofit foundation launched by Obama backers with the president’s support has asked parties interested in hosting the library to submit proposals by June 16.
Then why do they need state funds?

Emanuel and representatives from a handful of Chicago universities that want to host the library said the investment would return dividends by attracting tourists and new development such as hotels and restaurants.
I'm tired of economic development meaning catering to the rich.
Susan Sher, Michelle Obama’s former chief of staff, who is leading the University of Chicago’s efforts to land the library, said it could have a ‘‘transformative effect’’ on South Side neighborhoods that are struggling economically by creating jobs, programs for youth, and cultural partnerships.
‘‘The library would be a source of great pride for the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago,’’ Sher said.
