"Bus travel search engine Wanderu raises $5.6 million
Wanderu, a Boston-based search engine for train and bus fares, has raised $5.6 million in venture capital, the company said Wednesday.
The search engine, which is accessible through the Web, allows users to comb through bus and train fare options across 70 percent of the United States.
The biggest investor in the funding round was New York-based Metamorphic Ventures, which was joined by other venture capital funds and individual investors....
“Wanderu is filling a big overlooked space in the travel industry where the customers are predominantly millennials,” said Marc Michel, a managing partner at Metamorphic Ventures.
Wanderu’s chief executive is Babson College graduate Polina Raygorodskaya. Wanderu said it plans to use the capital it raised to expand its coverage, partner with more bus lines, and create mobile apps.
