Long Arm of the Law Catches Carrasquillo-Lizardi

"Man sought in 2 murders in Puerto Rico captured in New Bedford" by Aneri Pattani, Globe Correspondent  February 11, 2015

A fugitive from Puerto Rico who has been wanted since 2006 for in a double murder case was captured Wednesday in New Bedford, authorities said.

Luis Carrasquillo-Lizardi, 36, was arrested on Brock Avenue by members of the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, State Police, and New Bedford police, according to a statement from the US Department of Justice.

Carrasquillo-Lizardi was wanted in the murder of his former girlfriend and her boyfriend in Caguas, Puerto Rico, in September 2006. He is accused of killing his former girlfriend execution-style as she begged for her life just outside her home, the Department of Justice said.

Seems to be something going around.

Vanessa Diaz-Gonzalez and Andres Gonzalez-Rodriguez were both killed in the attack, the statement said.

Investigators in Puerto Rico and Massachusetts were eventually able to track Carrasquillo-Lizardi to his apartment in New Bedford, where he was living under an alias. Police believe he has been living in New Bedford for several years using at least two different identities, the Department of Justice said.

Carrasquillo-Lizardi was charged by New Bedford police as a fugitive from justice to be removed to Puerto Rico.

“It is our hope that this important capture will bring a resolution to this case and bring some level of comfort to the families of these two victims,” John Gibbons, US Marshal for the District of Massachusetts, said in the statement.
