"Charges dropped in 1986 death of Vermont golf pro
Charges against a man accused last year in the 1986 killing of a Vermont golf professional have been thrown out due to an evidentiary error. State Police said the county attorney’s office dismissed charges against David Allan Morrison on Friday, after it was discovered that a hair from the victim thought to have been found in Morrison’s car and sent to the FBI lab for analysis was actually found in the victim’s car. Morrison was charged last July with first-degree murder in the death of Sarah Hunter, 36, of Manchester. She disappeared in September 1986 and her body was later found in woods in Pawlet. Morrison was charged after police said DNA linked him to the crime. Department of Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn has ordered an investigation into the mistake on the evidence (AP)."
