"Scientists puzzled by big algae bloom

CLEVELAND - Giant floating fields of algae are back in strength this year on Lake Erie and scientists are trying to figure out why. The blooms of the pea soup-colored algae - so big they've been showing on satellite photos - are toxic to fish and small animals and irritating to humans. The lake once notorious for its pollution is cleaner than ever, yet the algae continues to thrive. Nine of 11 samples taken Sept. 3 near West Sister Island, northeast of Toledo, were more toxic than guidelines set by the World Health Organization, said Geoffrey Horst, a Michigan State University graduate student. The algae is not fatal to humans, but it can cause rashes. Water utilities along Ohio's Lake Erie shore spend thousands of dollars a day to kill the thick algae, officials said (AP)."

I'm surprised they haven't blamed it on the global-warming fraud. Maybe that has finally run its course.

"Bush to Democrats: Pass free trade deal

President Bush urged Democrats yesterday to set politics aside and approve a free trade deal with Colombia that he said would boost US national security. "It's very important we get the trade bill out of politics and into the realm of strategic thought," Bush said at a White House event with President Alvaro Uribe of Colombia. Many Democrats with strong ties to US labor groups want Colombia to do more to stop killings of trade unionists before Congress votes on the pact (Reuters)."

Given the way this guy has driven this country into the ditch, he can go fuck himself!

FBI raids ministry in child porn case

FOUKE - Federal and state agents have raided an evangelist's headquarters as part of a child pornography investigation. Police and FBI agents arrived yesterday evening at the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries headquarters near Texarkana. US Attorney Bob Balfe said he expects a warrant to be issued for Alamo's arrest. It wasn't known whether Alamo was present. Armed guards patrol the ministry headquarters, but there was no immediate word on whether the agents met resistance. The ministry's website describes it as "dedicated to spreading the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and the winning of souls worldwide."

Seeing as CNN picked this up as breaking news on Saturday, I figure the it arrived at the perfect time to take America's eyes of Bush's failures!!!
