Remember the theme of the day, folks.
"Colleges: Fee hikes needed to close budget gap
PROVIDENCE, R.I. --The state's three public colleges are weighing tuition and fee increases as a last resort to make up for a budget gap caused by last minute cuts this summer. Colleges say they need another $4.5 million to bridge the gap and are asking for the fee hikes, which could be approved Monday at a meeting of the Board of Governors for Higher Education. If approved, tuition and fees at the University of Rhode Island would rise by $250 per student for the spring semester -- a nearly 7 percent increase over the fall. That would bring the tuition for in-state students to $3,977 this spring, not including room and board. At Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island, student costs would rise by $200 (AP)."
