"Activists expect Clinton to propel women's rights" by Susan Milligan, Globe Staff | December 1, 2008

WASHINGTON - President-elect Barack Obama's expected nomination today of Hillary Clinton as the next secretary of state has energized human rights and women's rights activists, who expect the former first lady to bring a dramatic new focus to the plight of women around the globe....

I hope that includes the WOMEN USrael is DROPPING BOMBS ON!!!

You know, the ones in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Palestine?

Obama plans to announce that Defense Secretary Robert Gates will keep his post and retired Marine General James L. Jones will serve as national security adviser. He will name Susan E. Rice as US ambassador to the United Nations. Also expected at the morning announcement are Eric Holder Jr., his nominee to be attorney general, and Governor Janet Napolitano of Arizona, his choice to be secretary of homeland security....

Clinton's ascension to be the nation's top diplomat also gives new hope to supporters of international women's rights, who see Clinton as one of the world's leading figures in the fight to improve education, safety, and economic opportunity for women and girls.

Except for those girls and women we are DROPPING D.U. BOMBS on, right?

"This is a new opportunity. We're very optimistic," said Daphne Jayasinghe, Amnesty International's acting advocacy director for Europe/Central Asia and violence against women. The human rights group is pushing for ratification of a UN document calling for an end to gender discrimination, as well as programs to counter violence against women and girls.

How about STOPPING the BOMBING of their VILLAGES based on the DAMNABLE LIE of 9/11, huh? That would be a START anyway!

And I guess it goes WITHOUT SAYING that the IRANIAN WOMEN will be SAFE, right?

The election of Joseph Biden as vice president makes Clinton's agenda for women even more promising, said Kim Gandy, president of the National Organization for Women. Biden's strong Senate record on combating violence against women domestically and abroad has brought him accolades from women's advocates. "It is very exciting," Gandy said. "The two of them will be a dynamic team in terms of increasing the treatment around the world of women as human beings."

Is it just me, or does the AIR SLAUGHTER CONTRADICT the LAUDABLE GOALS of the GLOBALISTAS?

And consider this:

"They sat in one girl’s home telling their story, their faces uncovered only because no man was present. But when Mohammed Matloob, the father of one of the girls, walked into the room, the other three quickly pulled their head scarves over their faces. His daughter, Nagina, 16, ordered him to leave the room, which he did, with a surprised
shrug."

Aren't the
children beautiful?

Tomas Munita for The New York Times Hameeda Sarfraz, in the dark burqa, teaches Islamic religious lessons to children in her village, about 50 miles north of Islamabad, Pakistan.

Oh, what LIES we have been told about Muslims!!!!!!

As first lady, Clinton delivered a dramatic speech on women's rights at the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995, criticizing the host country and other nations for abuses of girls and women. "It is no longer acceptable to discuss women's rights as separate from human rights," she said then....

Then STOP DROPPING BOMBS on THEIR HEADS as if they don't love their children as much as we do (they might even love them more than us selfish Amurkns).

****************

Biden.... also the chief sponsor of an international version of the act, which would authorize $1 billion over five years for programs to combat violence against women in foreign nations. Women's rights groups are hopeful the measure will have a stronger chance under an Obama administration and with a Democratic-controlled Congress.

How many times I gotta flog that horse?

You wanna stop violence against women? STOP BOMBING THEM!

Women's rights advocates are confident that Obama will lift the so-called "Global Gag Rule," a US law that prohibits American government funds from going to organizations that perform or "actively promote" abortion as a family planning option. The law was imposed under former President Reagan, lifted by former President Clinton, and reinstated by President Bush.

You gotta love the divisive, agenda-pushing, Zionist press!!

To BE a WOMAN is to be DEFINED by ABORTION!!!! And I thought you ladies had a variety of interests and concerns!

Further, the human rights groups are hoping for a more assertive approach by the new administration to stop mass rapes of women in war, and a more vocal stance against such practices as genital mutilation and forced marriages for girls.

As long as you STOP DROPPING AIR BOMBS on their heads!!!!

Look, I am NOT in favor of ANY ABUSE of WOMEN; however, WHAT BUSINESS is it of GLOBALISTS to LECTURE the rest of the world?! Especially GLOBALIST KILLERS like our esteemed "leaders" in the U.S.!

Advocates have long asserted that human rights are a low priority for US presidents and secretaries of state, who often are distracted by more immediate national security issues.

That's got to be the understatement of the year.

Women's rights, they say, are usually even less of a priority, and diplomatic officials may be hindered by what human rights advocates say is a misguided oversensitivity to cultural differences.

Are you 'effin' kidding me? NOTHING could be further from the truth!!!! Amurkn globalists and their Zio-con friends are LACKING in SENSITIVITY if nothing else!!!!

The plight of women in the Middle East, for example, generally takes a back seat to problems such as stemming nuclear proliferation.

Or "terror."

Btw,

Who are the women-abusing (allegedly) Taliban, anyway?

"Something of a catchall term for loosely affiliated insurgents without a singular command structure. Often, the Afghan government favors the phrase 'enemies of the state' (New York Times July 24, 2007)."

"
The Taliban is growing and creating new alliances not because its sectarian religious practices have become popular, but because it is the only available umbrella for national liberation," says Pakistani historian and political commentator Tariq Ali. "As the British and the Soviets discovered to their cost in the preceding two centuries, Afghans never like being occupied."

And today, readers?

"More and more, people here look back to the era of harsh Taliban rule from 1996 to 2001, describing it as a time of security and
peace."

Oh, oh, oh!!!! I'm so offended by theAmeriKan MSM and its bullshit!

Oh, one more thing:

"The U.S. government was well aware of the Taliban's reactionary program, yet it chose to back their rise to power in the mid-1990s. The creation of the Taliban was "actively encouraged by the ISI and the CIA," according to Selig Harrison, an expert on U.S. relations with Asia. "The United States encouraged Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to support the Taliban, certainly right up to their advance on Kabul," adds respected journalist Ahmed Rashid. When the Taliban took power, State Department spokesperson Glyn Davies said that he saw "nothing objectionable" in the Taliban's plans to impose strict Islamic law, and Senator Hank Brown, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on the Near East and South Asia, welcomed the new regime: "The good part of what has happened is that one of the factions at last seems capable of developing a new government in Afghanistan." "The Taliban will probably develop like the Saudis. There will be Aramco [the consortium of oil companies that controlled Saudi oil], pipelines, an emir, no parliament and lots of Sharia law. We can live with that," said another U.S. diplomat in 1997."

What?

Are we clear, readers? Quit killing them, dammit!

But Clinton could bring a new perspective to the job of secretary of state, her supporters say, adding her internationally known voice to the fight for women's rights.

Except for those in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan,
Palestine, Somalia, et al.

Yeah, I'm sure that is helping out their women and children, too!

And btw, WHERE the F*** has CONDI RICE BEEN?
That sure is an INDICTMENT without saying it, 'eh?

The former first lady was a strong advocate for development programs for women - such as loan assistance to help women in third-world nations start small businesses, giving them both a higher household income as well as a stronger role in the local economy, her supporters note. Such development programs can be crucial forces in empowering women, they said.... --more--"

Which means ABORTION RIGHTS, right?

And you want to EMPOWER WOMEN?

QUIT BOMBING THEM and KILLING THEIR MEN!!!!

"Mullen 'very positive' after first meeting with Obama" by Karen DeYoung, Washington Post | December 1, 2008

WASHINGTON - .... But most important, according to several senior officers and civilian Pentagon officials who would speak about their next leader only on condition of anonymity, is the expectation of renewed respect for the chain of command and greater realism about US military goals and capabilities, which many found lacking during the Bush years.

What? Mr. Support-the-Troops Decider was LACKING LEADERSHIP?

"Open and serious debate versus ideological certitude will be a great relief to the military leaders," said retired Major General William L. Nash of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Senior officers are aware that few among their ranks voiced misgivings over the Iraq war, but they say that they were not encouraged to suppress such views by the White House or the Pentagon under Donald H. Rumsfeld.

Obama's expected retention of Robert M. Gates as defense secretary, and expected appointments of Senator Hillary Clinton of New York as secretary of state and retired Marine General James L. Jones as national security adviser, have been greeted with relief at the Pentagon.

Clinton is respected at the Pentagon and is considered a defense moderate, at times bordering on hawkish. Through her membership on the Senate Armed Services Committee she has developed close ties with senior military figures.

Great, another general as secretary of state!

Some in the military are suspicious of "flagpole" officers such as Jones, whose assignments included Supreme Allied Commander at NATO, Marine commandant, and other headquarters service. Jones grew up in France and is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. But he also saw combat in Vietnam and served with the US military in Bosnia.

Well, maybe he will be all right then.
