"Peace Corps, AmeriCorps alumni to march in parade
President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural committee called on Peace Corps and AmeriCorps alumni yesterday to march in the Jan. 20 parade down Pennsylvania Avenue after Obama is sworn in as the 44th president.
It's the latest move to highlight public service and volunteerism in the inaugural festivities. Peace Corps volunteers go to far-flung countries around the world to help local people with education, healthcare, and other needs.
