Deep in the land of George W. Bush, President Obama swept through Texas yesterday to gather Democratic cash and votes....
The president did the job that takes up much of his time these days: politics.
Yeah, NOT WORKING FOR YOU and FIXING YOUR PROBLEMS, America!!!
Obama raised up to $1 million for the Democratic National Committee at a hotel in Austin, where the mantra of his midterms — “Are we going to move forward, or are we going to move backwards?’’ — played well to his lunch crowd.
And here is what it will be spent on:
"Party committees spend roughly two-thirds of the money they take in on the care and comfort of committee staffs and on efforts to raise more funds, with lavish spending on limousines, expensive hotels, meals, and tips.... vast sums are consumed with limited accountability.... hefty expenditures in categories such as “office supplies’’ and “tips’’ that consume tax-exempt party funds.... pamper prospective donors with luxurious getaways and gifts... 59 percent of total Democratic revenue of about $100 million.... There is a class of [political] donors who expect to be wined and dined and who expect to have gala receptions.... spending on charter flights, limousines, entertainment, food, and beverages at party headquarters"
That is why I never give money to a political party.
Later, he was the headline draw at another fund-raiser, in Dallas, to help Democrats in key Senate races nationwide....
His head wasn't taken off so he must be doing what the masters want.
This is Obama’s August offensive, a string of tactical, time-gobbling campaign stops to raise a bunch of money and revitalize Democratic voters.
Even the word choices are offensive.

Yup, glad he has TIME to take care of FUND RAISING as the country goes to hell.
Yup, glad there is NO GLOBAL-WARMING PROBLEM when he is crisscrossing the country on taxpayer dime!!

The traditional result of approaching midterm elections is that the party of the sitting president loses seats; in this case, with anti-incumbency fervor soaring, Democrats could be in for a lashing. Republicans need to gain 40 seats in the House and 10 in the Senate to take control of Capitol Hill.
It should be more than 50 in a free and fair election.
In any event, Democrats should lose the house. They may keep the Senate, but they will be down to a one-or-two vote majority there.
The fact is, the Democrats HAD THEIR FOUR YEARS and THEY FAILED!
From coast to coast, Obama’s message at every stop is that he is governing, Republicans are obstructing, and voters have a choice....

Btw, I noticed that funds for the wars and Israel just sail right through no matter who is in charge.
The ostensible purpose of the Texas day trip was education.....
Holding the official event along with his political appearances means the White House could bill taxpayers for most of the costs of the trip....
Oh, and YOU are PICKING UP the TAB, taxpayers?!!!?

AUSTIN, Texas — Everyone from lobbyists to lawyers and journalists is rushing to get permits to carry guns inside the Texas Capitol, where legislators already tote pistols in boots and purses or stow them inside their desks.
A unique loophole in a new security procedure means a gun permit is like a special-access pass into the domed building, allowing people who are certified to carry a gun to bypass lines at the metal detectors set up after a shooting incident earlier this year.
Either way you are bypassing the line.
“Nobody wants to be the one standing in line behind 300 kids wearing the same-colored T-shirt,’’ said Jim Henson, a University of Texas political scientist. “If you’re trying to get in and out really quick and there’s going to be choke points, well, people don’t want to have to deal with that.’’

The metal detectors were installed at the Capitol’s four public entrances in May, a few months after a man fired off a few rounds outside the doors of the main entrance. No one was harmed....

A separate lane for license-holders had to be created so gun-toters could enter without having to pull out their weapons along with their wallets and keys....
Guns were previously allowed in the Capitol. With the arrival of the metal detectors, permit-holders now get their licenses scanned to make sure they are in good standing, and their bags are put through an X-ray scanner.
Ain't AmeriKa great?
