Boston Globe Omelet

I never eat eggs.

The Boston Sunday Globe Can't Smell Rotten Eggs

The smell must have been so strong even they could no longer ignore it.

Wary consumers, restaurants make changes after egg recall

Yup, Globe still thinks you should eat them -- and trusts the FDA, can you believe it?

If there has ever been a poster boy for government failure it is the FDA!

"Farms like the two involved in a massive recall of more than a half-billion eggs are rarely inspected by the federal government, officials say, as the Food and Drug Administration has traditionally reacted to outbreaks instead of working to prevent them....

Yeah, we only fight preventive wars(?) around here.

The lack of oversight has become a bigger problem as the egg industry, like many other food industries, has consolidated over recent years, placing fewer, larger businesses in control of much of the nation’s egg supply....

Wouldn't that help with inspection?

Yeah, and no mention of the DeCoster empire, either!

And somehow you knew it was headed thi$ way
:

"Many industry experts say the absence of mandatory vaccination greatly weakens the FDA rules, depriving them of a crucial step that could prevent future outbreaks....

Many people in the US egg industry say they believe that the current outbreak and recall will tip the balance and force nearly all producers in the United States to begin vaccinating hens to reassure consumers....

It will only reassure me in the fact that I will never eat eggs, meat, or seafood ever again.

So
what would you like in your omelet, America?

I think I'll skip the Boston Globe breakfast today.
