Slow Saturday Special: Canada's Terrorist Sanctuary

One of their ports of call.

"Tamil refugee ship arrives in Canada; Officials voice fears rebels are smuggling people" by Jeremy Hainsworth and Rob Gillies, Associated Press | August 14, 2010

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — At sea for three crowded and grueling months, hundreds of Tamil asylum seekers from war-ravaged Sri Lanka sought refuge in Canada yesterday when their rusty, ramshackle cargo ship finally edged into the shelter of a naval port just after sunrise....

Their arrival, however, raised concerns among Canadian officials that the rebel Tamil Tigers, which lost a bloody 25-year war for independence that ended in May 2009, were smuggling people into Canada, home to the largest Tamil community outside Sri Lanka and India.

Another concern?:

Taught the Tamils the art of the car bomb, 'eh?

Now you know why the Tamils were abandoned by western intelligence agencies.

“Our goal is to ensure that our refugee system is not hijacked by criminals or terrorists,’’ said Public Safety Minister Vic Toews, whose government labeled the Tamil Tigers a terrorist group in 2006.

Last October, a ship carrying 76 Sri Lankan migrants was intercepted in Canadian waters. All are free while their cases are being processed.

Although the war is over, Tamil leaders in Canada say, the ethnic Tamil minority still faces persecution. The United Nations, along with other nongovernmental organizations, have reported that people in Sri Lanka are still being abused, they say.

Then the camps are still open?

Whatever happened to never again?

“If people looked at what they’ve endured back home, people would give these refugees the benefit of the doubt, which is what they do for every other person who approaches our borders,’’ said Canadian Tamil Congress spokeswoman Majula Selvarajah....

Chitranganee Wagiswara, Sri Lanka’s high commissioner to Canada, said now that the civil war is over, the Tigers might be trying to regroup in Canada, a country that has historically been a large source of their fund-raising.

Maybe Canadian Bacon wasn't just a movie?

Wagiswara said the group has huge support in Canada, pointing to the tens of thousands of Tamils who turned out at protests last year in Toronto and in Ottawa. Demonstrators waved Tiger flags and blocked streets, including a major highway.

“We saw what happened last year during the height of the conflict. Some were quite militant, blocking the highway, and huge numbers coming out. The fear is that these sort of organizations could turn violent,’’ she said.

The group sought an independent state, claiming decades of discrimination by Sri Lanka’s Sinhalese majority. The conflict killed more than 80,000 people and ended after a massive government operation against the Tigers.

Yeah, MOSTLY TAMIL CIVILIANS KILLED -- with a WAR CRIMINAL FINALE from the Sri Lankan government!

They TRAPPED THEM ALL in a SMALL AREA and then LET FLY with the artillery!

"Canada refuses to extradite terror suspect" by Associated Press | August 5, 2010

TORONTO — A Canadian indicted in Boston on charges he supplied Al Qaeda with weapons was freed yesterday after more than four years in jail when a judge refused to extradite him to the United States.

Abdullah Khadr, 29, has been held in Canada on a US warrant since his December 2005 arrest.

I wonder if he is related to the kid.

He is wanted for allegedly purchasing weapons for Al Qaeda and plotting to kill Americans abroad.

Oh, which "Al-CIA-Duh" would that be, huh?

The made-up "Al-CIA-Duh?"

Or the "Al-CIA-Duh" CREATION for the COURTROOM!?

Khadr was charged in US District Court in Boston with buying guns, rockets, and other weapons for Al Qaeda. The case relied on a statement he made to the FBI in Pakistan and one he gave when he arrived in Toronto in December 2005. His lawyers said the statement made in Pakistan was the result of torture.

TOSS another "terror" confession.

Superior Court Justice Christopher Speyer ruled that the statement was unreliable.
